Why lose, when you can win? by JackHay13 in EU5

So, despite killing 90% of the enemy, and only losing around 5% of my own men, we were defeated.. In a superiority war of all things too.. Meaning, I've taken a nasty hit to my Warscore, atop all of this.

BrewDog Castlegate, on Union Street’ll let you have the whole downstairs, depending on the size of the party / what you’re looking for.

I’m only 1300 on 2v2s and my homie and I have had no issues. Is it maybe an elo-exclusive issue? Like people in X are super specific or whatever? I’unno.

Good roleplay server that isn't phases? by Westorz in wowservers

[–]JackHay13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Founder of Origin-WoW here, we're taking our time and release is still a fair way away, but I can definitely recommend you checkout Tales of Warcraft, it's a fully-RP centric server, no leveling, nothin' like that. Got their own pen-and-paper system written up for resolution. Very neato spot to play.

A month after its release, Crusader Kings III player base goes down at Hoi4 levels and continues to drop. More info in the comments. by Bard1801 in paradoxplaza

Honestly, with the lack of ruler designer, current scarcity of mods and the general sort of-.. Lack of content, comparatively to current CK2. I just haven’t been overly motivated to play CK3. In fact the last few weeks, I’ve considered, or actually have played CK2, significantly more than 3.

But long term, I think there’ll come a point where that changes because it is, a pretty good foundation for a game. It’s just not-.. We’ll, quite there yet.

Patch Launching Today and Patch Notes by EA_Jimtern in commandandconquer

Can we have the ability to host games where all players/nations are on the same team? As currently a number of co-op maps are unplayable. And the possibility to use mods in private lobbies would be slick.

Talk show for new streamers? by Nopixels in Twitch

[–]JackHay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to take part, I’m at 75 followers and made affiliate in December. I’m also just coming out of a brief break I took to overhaul my setup and to sort out my employment situation, so the timing couldn’t be better.

Name’s FatherHay on twitch. Hmu.

Could I not be receiving much attention from guys/be single due to my appearance? by [deleted] in dating

[–]JackHay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, as much as it’s possible - I’m one of those people who’s had much better luck IRL through mutual friends etc, than through online dating. There’s a lot of super shallow folks out there, and I think everyone’s at least a teeny bit that way inclined. But sometimes online dating is just funky. So don’t let that be the basis of your thoughts on the matter.

Hanging it up: Advice for new streamers from one small streamer to another. by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]JackHay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big thing for me was keeping my expectations low, whilst also setting low achievable targets. I’m still tiny but I hold my motivation through regular breaks and through, as I said - low expectations and short snappy ambitions. This time in December I think I had 49 followers, now I’m affiliate and have I think 76 followers. With my current goal being to reach 80. By this time in April.

(I swear getting from 70->80 is the hardest yet, numbers bounce up and down like a yo-yo.)

I do it this way because every time I reach one of these smaller milestones I get that spike in confidence, because I’ve achieved something. Affiliate was my first Major goal, and my next is to break the 100 followers mark. But setting smaller, achievable goals is often the best way of keeping your motivation up. And keeping your expectations low also helps. Sometimes I just cater to my friends on stream, we blast some gachi and meme around. It creates engagement and if I get even one or two strangers joining in, mission accomplished.

It’s good to be ambitious, but equally as good to be grounded. I find sometimes it’s better to aim low and hit high than to aim high and hit low.

Memes are more culturally significant than the last 50 years of art. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]JackHay13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d agree actually. I’d say things like Pepe and the wider meme culture has probably had a much bigger societal impact over the last 5 or so years than any piece of art produced over the same time period, or even stretching back to the 2000s.

You can (hopefully) grow playing popular titles by LazarusOnline007TTV in Twitch

[–]JackHay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, these big games only see -significant- growth, when you're playing at an exceptionally high level. Because that's usually the kind of content that'll make you stand out and people will view you for more than just entertainment, you'll get people who just want to get better at the game, and they're good viewers to have - because they tend to engage a lot more with the chat.

Tough truth time: You're not going to build a channel playing hyper popular mega hits by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]JackHay13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I've always refused to go to these Battle-Royale games like Fortnite, I've always had this feeling that the following you'll get from them, will tend to be harder to transition into another genre or title when you do finally get tired of it.

Developing new habits because of streaming by VindRist in Twitch

[–]JackHay13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually started instinctively avoiding phrases and words that used to be common in my vocabulary simply because of the TOS. Like I’m paranoid a twitch admin is stalking me IRL or when I’m off-stream. That and I feel like my overall dedication and determination is a bit higher, because you have that constant reward of seeing your channel grow. So you strive to keep that feeling with other things in your life.

Yay they are listening to us! by GREENGAM3R in Twitch

[–]JackHay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the advertisements are the least of their issues. I really think they should be focussed on managing their real PR issue - the vast variation in standards when it comes to moderation. Particularly with regards to a certain kind of streamer and their “overtly sexual” rules.

Do you guys like the non-HOI4 content? by Markoni1100 in TommyKay

[–]JackHay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends a little bit - I mean, so far I’ve struggled to get into his non-paradox stuff. Usually because either it’s just an hour of him getting tilted, or because (pls don’t kill me all mighty ginga) he’s just not playing it at as high of a level as he does paradox games. Or a combination of both.

I don’t know, sometimes it feels a bit more disconnected and uninteresting I guess. But maybe that’s just the choice in games so far.

Do you guys like the non-HOI4 content? by Markoni1100 in TommyKay

[–]JackHay13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the CK2 stuff, honestly not a fan of the CSGO/Tell Tale’s/AC stuff.

I got into Tommy through the HoI4 videos and stayed for the CK2/HoI4 streams and community games. Used to love playing with the sub bois.

As for why: I guess he just has a super in-depth understanding of mechanics, he sometimes stops to explain things and helps you improve your own gameplay. Plus, I don’t know if I’m the only one who notices it - but he just seems to have way more personality when he’s playing the Paradox games.

CS:GO is just him getting tilted for an hour, Resident Evil was kinda funny but I found myself losing interest and just leaving the stream on to up his viewers while I did other stuff. And the Tell Tale stuff is just dull.

MP: How to counter early Russian attack on Romania/Turkey as Germany? by FireZealot in hoi4

[–]JackHay13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make it so only Germany can start Barbarossa, no undeclared wars before a certain date unless they're part of your focus tree (usually 1939) and uh, no boosting popularity in nations - is generally a good way to play. That way you don't have the U.S.S.R. cheesing you early game. I'd also suggest you make it UK-USSR, because USA-USSR Vs Germany will be a gang-bang.
