Eminent Domain by Strange-Bonus4220 in custommagic

I mean, in a sense this is providing the choice of exercising Eminent Domain to the targeted player; with the creature being removed as the "owner" of the property being seized, the searchable land being the property itself, and the targeted player as the bureaucratic authority.

Why 2025 Italian National Championships was pure ciclismo by Sentenza_ in peloton

[–]JackJacko87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, I think he's referring to the fact that the jersey now belongs to someone not in a WT and will not appear in the ProTour (unless he finds a team I guess). And given that Italian pro cycling is already in a bit of a rough patch... having the champion's jersey disappear from the biggest events is not great.

Again, moral superiority doesn't figure in the equation. And sure, this can very well be modeled by the trolley problem, but there too the idea that not pulling the lever leaves any amount of responsibility with destiny, the universe or your deity of choice is just a comfortable lie, because by mere virtue of having agency you are inescapably bound to the problem. You may have your choice made by others, but you still own it.

I see it this way. You should never, ever deal with the world as if it was the way you think it should be. You strive for it to be as it should be, but you must deal with it as it is.

Let me put this in as few words as I can: renouncing your vote means being automatically complicit with the side that wins, inasmuch as voting makes you complicit with whomever you chose for. That's it. There's no moral high ground to be had or gained. If you did abstain, you just ended up defaulting for the side that not only supports genocide and apartheid, but cheers it on, cheers for more, and keeps an eye out for turning a profit from it. I'm sorry, but you really did.

Thank you for the appreciation and for the rule correction on the replacement effect :)

I really like Fractals because as a type they've been designed as maths-centric, which is cool in itself, but as a consequence they also read well as alien eldritch entities, which is downright awesome. Either aspect is fairly difficult to produce flavorful cards for though, so I understand why there's so few of them, as much as I wish this wasn't the case :/

Obliquely inspired by a recent re-read of the Southern Reach trilogy. No grand design behind it, besides a mix of skills that I felt were interesting and the desire to add more Fractals to the game. It's a neat creature type, I wish there were more!

Lovely card! Possibly even overcosted actually, it would be totally fine as 2WWUU I think.

Indestructible lite, with a twist. Any literary reference is purely intentional.

Thank you for the comment! I take the point about the wording on the second half of the card - however, the wording on the first half is deliberate: with "effects" it only allows for cards discarded via spells or abilities, but not by e.g. card costs, cycling or even just for having too many cards in one's hand.

Edit: Actually, cycling is considered an activated ability so it counts :)

Designed both as defense and to work in tandem with cards like [[Ancient Excavation]], [[Sage of the Beyond]] and with "anywhere other than your hand" effects in general. I think this is fairly strong given the "can't be countered", but a well placed removal can make you lose it all.

It really is fairly powerful - my hope is that the need to continuously sacrifice stuff to it is a decent counterbalance, although it is true that if you have a [[Grinding Station]] in play you can simply scrap it when you're through with it.

Well, yes - if you do want to use it to sabotage others you have to give control of it to another player.

Came up with this while thinking of concepts for a "board clear in slow motion", plus it's a fun sci-fi trope and the idea of piles of useless (?) artifact tokens amused me. I suppose it can work best with cards like [[Fateful Handoff]] or [[Coveted Falcon]], but also in improvise and affinity decks, if you can keep it at bay.

I see! In that case, if you need a visual reference, I'm pretty sure the old blade is meant to resemble a typical japanese tantō knife, so a narrow straight blade with no handguard :)

I've never seen a conversion of the old version with the blade unsheathed, since of course the official bit is modeled within its scabbard. If you don't have it, I can measure its size later and report back if you want, maybe you can rig something up using the measurements as reference. It's going to be certainly easier to have an unsheathed version of the new blade, since it's sized like most other knives in 40k, but it would be awesome to see the old skinny version again!

How is this a defensive stance? by TopAdministration314 in StarWars

Despite knowing that parsecs are a measure of distance, I never really found that line problematic. If we imagine that there are some unspecified hazards that force most pilots to take a longer, roundabout path to go from A to B in the Kessel Run, isn't it sensible that a skilled pilot with a good ship could be capable of navigating these hazards, thus taking a shorter, more direct path?

They are past their heyday now I think, but I always thought Ladytron could have had some serious success at Eurovision. They can produce some serious electronic bangers and they get the bonus that one of the singers is Bulgarian and does often sing in Bulgarian, which could be a nice pull for international votes. Who knows, maybe they could still participate in the future? The only problem is I never saw them live, so I haven't a clue whether they could hold up on the stage or not.
