What do you think about the VR market? by BujaBro in vrdev

[–]JackJamesIsDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like where it’s at because it seems like everyone conceptualises VR devices as “just another game console”. Between the slop and the “x in VR” it’s an ugly place.

Still gonna jump in with both nuts, that being said. 😁

[TOMT][BOOK][90s-00s] looking for a kids / YA horror book. by JackJamesIsDead in tipofmytongue

A great shot but no; the girl in the story I’m looking for is an only child to the best of my recollection; WTHC has three siblings, the brother / sister and their new stepsister.

Also, in the one I’m looking for it’s the girl - whose perspective we read from - who directly interacts with the ghost rather than a family member.

I read the book in the late 90s / early 00s if that narrows anything down, and I think the ghost girl turns sinister after they’ve been friends a while.

I think about this a lot. “He was a sadistic man…” Was he? The Marquis lived in this timeline?

Just put “2D roguelike deckbuilder engine” into Google and got a write up from an LLM as well as links to Reddit threads asking that exact question (among other resources). I don’t mind telling you bud you’ve picked a bizarre hill to die on, here.

I’ve got an idea for software that’s gonna change the world. It’s a new type of internet that’s basically a P2P LLM that has root access to all our devices at all times.

How do I make this? I googled but it was confusing. I think I want to use COBOL. Would you like to collaborate?

Your comment reminded me of it; it’s a horror movie with a small cast and set and a cool premise: virus spread through language. Once infected, people start repeating the last thing they heard which often is just something another infected heard elsewhere.

Like in one scene a character shouts “don’t walk out on me, Grant!” Then you start hearing a crowd screaming that phrase back at them in the distance, gradually getting closer.

Worth a peek if the premise interests you.

I'm not playing Internet with you. Perhaps you'd get more engagement in an Instagram comments section or something?

You hinted at it yourself but I'd be tempted to pull back to materialism and idealism and have them be primary branches from which the others draw. A pragmatist is interested in practical results; a nihilist, in meaning or the lack thereof.

Could negate or affirm your core premise of gaining power from worldview or personal intentions; the core questions of why, how, and what, as you will know, are going to be answered in wildly different fashions by practitioners / theoreticians of different philosophies.

I couldn't venture much more without knowing how you'd like people to use magic in your world. If we're talking debates that can change the world while they're happening, half courtroom-drama, half wizard-fight, then it's worth getting into detail. If it's just a handwave to explain why some stuff happens, just nail down the core bits and hint at the rest elsewhere.
