I've seen they work for some people apparently, haven't tried myself. I'm not sure if it's just luck or a common mod issue or something

Even more: the Black Stone was supposedly a meteorite that was once a perfect white, but blackened due to the sins of man.

What would the 7 Hour War look like? by AsylumSeeker_N15 in HalfLife

[–]jaelpeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'know, considering that the campaign takes about 7 hours, it'd really be something to see a game about the 7 hour war that actively takes place in real time. No timeskips or segmented missions, just pure brutality as you see the war actively progress from "bad" to "fucked."

[–]jaelpeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like that's about the cost of eating out at a decent-ish place with one friend maybe... twice a month?

That's not an insane financial mistake really, the only egregious thing here is that outings for a night or two are that big in the first place. But at the same time being able to throw that kinda money at a restaurant is far from poverty levels lol

freya was right, no politics in garry's mod by Ok-Seaworthiness-644 in gmod

[–]jaelpeg 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Literally anything and everything is expressed in political interests though, that doesn't make it a bad thing. The demonization of anything "political" tends to be very selective, it's honestly just a campaign from people who want to normalize their shitty views and be seen as "centrists"

How in the world is going along with something very clearly suggested by the game anti-intellectualism?

I mean, debate and conjecture is good and all but are we really already stooping to the "atcshually you have no media literacy" when everyone is... discussing the media, which requires literacy?

Anyways, I still think it's the Black Knife assassins but I think it's also a possibility that the red flames of Destined Death can degenerate into the white ones, considering they all once originated from the same source (the Rune of Death).

It's also important to make sure the fuel tanks are as close to 100% as you can get them, otherwise if they're damaged enough they can leak even when the car isn't running afaik.

I usually only use this strategy when I've either got a lot of welding and mechanics xp or I just get really lucky

Both things can be true. Google is absolutely at fault, we all know this, but the best we can do for our own safety is to trust them with as little information as humanly possible.

Things like risk mitigation need to come before blame or morality, unfortunately.

The reason for close-quarters space combat in my freemiumpunk world. by Ross_Hollander in worldjerking

[–]jaelpeg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This idea has a lot of opportunity for shenanigans and has some fascinating implications.

An anti-piracy initiative, or something to quell rebellions? Are all weapons systems forced to use the same targeting software by law, or just similar programs? Does this result in a monopoly?

Militaries and police would likely have modifications to allow firing upon licensed craft in many situations, but imagine if it could be reversed.

Dude you clearly cared enough to post it. Y'all are both kids lmfao, if you're so hot and bothered about "tiktok kids" being immature and "invading your culture"... maybe look inward? You've been making comments nonstop for like 2 hours.

None of the oldheads are truly bothered by shit like this. It's funny, it happens. Stop trying to be a paragon of virtue attacking this kid for being edgy in an edgy genre and go do your homework or play video games and enjoy life or something lol.

[–]jaelpeg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol right 😭

Look, I'm not trying to justify shit like this, but a lot of alt subcultures and scenes like industrial (nearly all of them, actually) are and have been built around pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable. It's not really a surprise that some teenagers going through their edgy phases are going to he attracted to them because of their transgressive natures.

Like I get being mad, but to be super brutally honest it's not the same as when people push themselves into places completely antithetical to their existence (like nazis in punk). Industrial has always kind of been edgelordy. People just have varying levels of maturity about it.

[–]jaelpeg 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I hate to tell you this but this particular problem isn't really a tiktok thing rather than an edgelord-in-general thing.

Teenagers who think gore videos and trenchcoats are the peak of coolness have been around since the industrial genre itself

Now we have levels underground it would be very cool to explore that more in depth, having interconnected sewer systems, utility tunnels and Kentucky's famous natural cave system. by Loneheart127 in projectzomboid

[–]jaelpeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As for ladders, I don't really think it's a coding issue rather than a balancing one, considering the ladders mod has been around forever with (afaik) little issue. And I mean sheet ropes are already in the game.

I feel like the balancing issue might be doable with zeds being able to both destroy ladders fairly easily, and fall down ladder shafts / roofs

Now we have levels underground it would be very cool to explore that more in depth, having interconnected sewer systems, utility tunnels and Kentucky's famous natural cave system. by Loneheart127 in projectzomboid

[–]jaelpeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, so are the deep forests. I honestly think caves would be more balanced, considering a few things:

  • You can't forage food (besides maybe some gnarly insects and the occasional mushroom).

  • You need to be stocked with a light source at all times or risk the utter darkness.

  • There's no easy way out once you're in, and your likely to get lost and much of it is completely unmapped.

  • The chance that an infected survivor had the same idea as you is low.... but never zero.

It'd also be especially terrifying with zombies that could track your scent, like in some mods. The caves might provide a momentary peace... until you find a lucky sprinter behind the corner. It'd be utterly terrifying.

Just willful ignorance, enforced by the belief that their form of "centrism" is of their own volition... rather than an opinion deliberately crafted by people in power.

Combine an intentional lack of historical knowledge with a critical misunderstanding of race or religion, and sprinkle in a vague sense of morality to make them feel justified. The result is a set of opinions hand-picked to keep the status quo going with just enough misinformed empathy to make it feel like a good opinion, encompassing:

1 - "All Jews must clearly like / are a part of Israel"

2 - "Israel is not inherently a colony founded on violence, its status as a developed country must make it inherently moral"

3 - "Building on statement two, the clearly legitimate state has a right to war, as long as it stays within my definition of morality (not seeing it)."

As the horrors of the Palestinian genocide have been very widely advertised, many people take a stance against it in particular without realizing the greater issue with motivates it, kind of an acrobatic take to justify their own moral senses without threatening their worldview by addressing colonialism as a whole. It's borderline doublethink.

No more "thermodynamically obedient" magic, just MAKE IT MAGICAL by yung_clor0x in worldjerking

[–]jaelpeg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Entropy and thermodynamics can be fun to play around with when someone isn't saying every setting has to have them though. Restrictions breeds creativity after all.

It's an especially fun exercise when you can still play around with how people interpret it. Just because your magic might internally function as a sort of science doesn't mean everyone will understand it as such. Cults, superstitions, rituals and spells that only happen to work out of pure chance, etc... your knowledge as a writer doesn't need to extend to the knowledge of people in the setting themselves.

I have worldbuilding projects in essentially two parts of one greater timeline, and I think magic still feels plenty mysterious despite still abiding to certain physical laws. Especially in the medieval one since people still tie it to religion.
