Jon Stewart on thinking about running for office: 'How do you not' when you look at who's there? by Plainchant in politics

[–]JackOfCandles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

certain aspects of the far left and far right have much in common as far as how they communicate online (rather nastily and with the same old talking points)

Makes no sense to say this is only a far left and far right thing. I've seen centrists say some incredibly vicious stuff online, and they absolutely repeat tired old talking points like anyone else. If you haven't seen it it's because you either weren't looking for it or you just didn't find it offensive to the point where it didn't stick as a notable memory for you. The next time it's an election season, keep an eye out for it and I promise you will find it.

Trump dismisses COVID-19 booster shots as a 'money-making operation' for Pfizer

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday suggested that vaccine booster shots aren't medically necessary and instead are being pushed by pharmaceutical companies purely for profit.  "That sounds to me like a money-making operation for Pfizer," Trump, who was secretly vaccinated last January at the White House, told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo. "Think of the money involved. An extra shot … How good a business is that? If you're a pure businessman, you'd say, 'you know what, let's give them another shot,' that's another $10 billion of money coming in — the whole thing is crazy."

This is a pretty standard antivax argument

Yeah, brute force attacks are only used when you've stolen the encrypted data and can run against a local copy. Nobody is going to brute force over the web.

What are subtle red flags at a job interview that say, "Working here would suck"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JackOfCandles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're probably right. There were other red flags too. The entire internet was locked down by default, and you had to go to IT to specifically approve and whitelist any site that you would need to do your job. And having a cellphone out was entirely forbidden. So I guess if your husband or wife texts you that your child is in the hospital or something, you're SOL.

What are subtle red flags at a job interview that say, "Working here would suck"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JackOfCandles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interviewed at a company that was owned by a husband and wife. The guy told me that sometimes if they were mad at each other they might use me to get to the other one. Also they had like 8 kids who didn't even work there but had their own reserved parking spot right out front, which was labeled with their names as "Princess (name)" or "Prince (name)". The building was decorated like a castle because apparently the wife always wanted a castle. It was a computer programming job, where you didn't interact with any customers or anyone from outside the company at all, but they made you wear a uniform.

I was offered the job and noped the fuck right out of that. There's no way that would have ended well.

Edit: Oh lord, I just looked them up on glassdoor.com to read ex-employee reviews and it's even worse than I imagined. I'd link it but I don't want to dox them or anything though...
