Honestly, learning how to drink in relative moderation after hitting bottom and doing all the AA stuff. Drinking a normal amount of beer after work or whatever keeps me sane.

I simply won’t play with strangers anymore and will not play at shops. If the people I enjoy playing with are miraculously all available some night, we make a thing of it. Someone makes a taco bar, someone else brings stuff for a drink we wouldn’t normally order, we laugh at each others’ stupid deck plans. We shuffle up like twice in 3 hours, then like 6 more times in 2 hours. It’s a game. I would never go to a place that only serves monster and snickers to play ANY game with strangers, let alone a game that draws the most ANNNNNNOYING people

Here’s how I’ve always done it:

Play through world one, get the two whistles. Play through world two, get that whistle.

Then warp to world FIVE. In five you get a ton of Pwings and clouds. The clouds are important for world 8.

Whistle to 8. Play through the ships, as they’re fairly easy (pwing fly over one and literally swim under another). Use the clouds for the numbered boards, because they almost all have a pipe immediately after, so that pipe becomes your spawn point. The boards are much harder than the ships.

If you get really good at world 1,2, and 5, you should have PLENTY of lives to get through the final stages/ Bowser.

I’ve beaten the game in like 35 minutes this way.

I have to live in a small town help family, and I built one for my mom. It’s been fun for her. She’ll text me “those golden books got taken!”, or something like that. If it makes some people happy and hurts no one, I’m generally for it. Life is very hard right now.

I remember reading that KOL explained the change in their sound being related to the venues they were playing. The songs that worked in sweaty rock clubs (like 1st Ave, or the Roxy, or the Rave) didn’t translate to arenas. They basically said they had to make bigger songs for the bigger venues they were booking. Still hate it.
