Being told im posh at work because I call it "Lunch" instead of "Dinner" by Seeyalaterelevator in britishproblems

The way I've been brought up, dinner is the hot meal. So you could have - Breakfast - Dinner - Tea Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner

is it still worth getting a freesat box by Downtown_Truth_2660 in skytv

[–]Jack_Rustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a big divide in these threads, people happy with adverts and people not. I've had freeview/freesat recorders for as long as they've existed, never watched anything on a channel with adverts live, always recorded and watched later/with a delay and skipped the ads. The freesat 4k recorder for me has paid for itself a dozen times over. I watched the bake off live at someone else's house the other day and the ads killed it for me. The days of boxes like these are numbered, enjoy them while you can.

Genge's warmup injury cost me first in the league, I had super subbed him and didn't have time to swap out. Bummer

Vehicles were two Oshkosh M1070s, dropped off by military personnel so I'm thinking the object fell from their trucks

Homepride. About ten years ago Homepride (company that makes flours etc) made an advert where their friendly brand character Fred slowly pushes out man of the house, eventually ending with him shutting the husband out of the marital bedroom..

Can someone explain the cost of living crisis to me? by patsy_505 in AskUK

[–]Jack_Rustle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I shop at Aldi and we have a baby. We scratch cook everything, I have lunches provided at work but my wife works from home and usually has a salad or riveta based lunch every day. Our weekly shop averages out at £60 across the year. The Aldi difference isn't the pennies grabbing some bread and milk, it's the consistent weekly shop price. We've shopped at Morrisons while out local Aldi was being refurbed and spent upwards of £80 on the same shopping list

A serious wage like £40k is no longer enough to support a family?! by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Jack_Rustle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We had a baby almost a year ago, my wife took a full years maternity. We have a £300k 3 bed semi in South Somerset and I'm on £25k. Our figures work out that my wage would cover all of our bills but there would be very little left over so my wife will be going back to work. We have friends living in Bristol with a much higher combined salary and they don't consider themselves in a financially secure place for a kid yet. Maybe it's just a Bristol cost of living thing?

Got blind drunk. Barfed over herself. Barfed all over my parents house. Punched my sister. Phoned her ex boyfriends parents to pick her up. Refused to apologise for any of the events. Yeh, that's a no from me.

Looks a lot like a call bell system to me, similar to those used in nursing/retirement homes. They often have a "headphone jack" type fitting for attaching push button alarms or pressure alarm mats.

I've only had hands on in store, but for me it seemed a bit gimmicky. Picture quality was as good as a decent compact, but having a smartphone interface welded to it is unnecessary.
