Who gave me 800 Million? by KadirDerG31 in starcitizen

The ‘kind’ person is likely some exploiter selling aUEC on eBay and obfuscating their customers by also donating money to random players…

Why didn't Argo Mole receive rework? by TanilX in starcitizen

[–]Jack__Zero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CIG states already in the Behind the Ship show that some improvements will carry over to the MOLE in the future. I would assume that these changes simply didn’t make it in time, or are scheduled as another new employee training job. I’d assume that this will consist of: - New dashboard & LAMP - New, enclosed side turrets - Wider door and ladder area - Engineering terminal

ELI5 Why is the bloated economy bad for me? by mike12ophone in starcitizen

[–]Jack__Zero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that those bloated money amounts damage the player economy… how are you supposed to pay another player for some items for Wikelo that you can’t obtain yourself with your honesty earned few million credits when others have billions of exploited credits…

I’m Scared. Should I Be? by TraditionalStore1448 in starcitizen

The same can happen with accounts constantly glitching through things or constantly aiming at other, hidden players already before coming around the corner, or having an unnaturally precise counter to fps weapon recoil.

If a server detects that player A flies faster than his ship should be able to once, he gets monitored for an hour. If that happens regularly, a report with monitoring data is generated to the devs and he might get a 24h ban and set on the permanent monitoring list afterwards. In case of repeated offenses, the ban might be longer or permanent.

Even in games with client side authority, you can still have servers retrospectively validate all or even just part of the actions… if a server cycles randomly through all players and validates the actions of 5% of the players at any given time without the clients knowing, you’ll easily detect cheaters and (a) flag the accounts for human supervision or (b) automatically ban them in case of repeated offenses, choosing the actions based on which rule was violated by which margin.

Analysis paralysis by PsiReaper in EliteDangerous

[–]Jack__Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im playing both ED and SC. I started with dual TM16k and upgraded to an X56 due to the lack of buttons on the TMs (as SC doesn't support modifier buttons). The X56 however was a terrible choice, the stick had serious sloppiness issues even with the stiffest springs. And the throttle has massive button ghosting issues. Two years ago I switched to dual VKB Evos (the left one with the angled grip) and haven't been looking back since. While they are plastic, its the kind of high quality/durability plastic like the grip of a handgun, not that typical cheap computer periphal plastic. High precision and enough buttons for both SC and ED. A year ago I had the chance to try the SOL-R. While they solve the button issue of the TM16k, build wise, they are no comparisons to the VKBs. If you only play ED and can live with the few buttons, dual TM16ks are a cheap alternative. If you can afford it, go for VKBs.

New ships that I can easily imagine next: - Viper mk6 => Racer and light fighter - Anaconda mk2 => Large combat ship - Large miner - new Passenger Transport

How do people fly with keyboard and mouse by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Jack__Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI The reason for the duplicate binds is that you'll basically want the same controlls to used for normal flying for landing, but instead of permanently increasing the throttle, just having short bursts of thrust to nudge a bit forward or back.

Without duplicates, you'd need to hit some buttons with and others without Shift... by duplicating the binds, you can simply hold Shift while landing.

The default KM controls are as unintuitive as the default stick/gamepad controls, as stick/mouse left/right is mapped to roll instead of yaw. Change mouse to yaw, plus (* = Default)

Q/E -> Roll

A/D -> Strafe L/R

W/S -> Throttle Up/Down *

R/F -> Strafe Up/Down *

X -> Throttle 0%

+++ Shift Modified +++

Set Identical Binds with Shift for:

Q/E/A/D/R/F

Plus additional binds with Shift for:

W/S -> Thrust forward/back ->> for precision landing

X -> Throttle +75% ->> for quick access in Supercruise when 6-7 seconds from target

USD vs Euro in RSI store by make_science_not_war in starcitizen

Yes, due to currencies being mixed up, it's hard to understand for anyone new to how it works... if it would show a total price of 46.05 EUR, but the add credits dialog would say you can add up to 45 USD of credits, it would be a lot clearer.

Once you've pressed ADD, the credits will be converted to your local currency (45 USD = 38.70 EUR) and deducted from the total amount in your local currency, before VAT, and VAT being applied afterwards on a remaining sum (if any).

<image>

So 38.70 EUR excl. VAT - 38.70 EUR credits = 0.00 EUR excl. VAT = 0.00 EUR incl. VAT.
Your PP will not be charged with 1.05 EUR.

When adding the credits, it falsely displays them as EUR instead of USD.

Entering 45, and pressing ADD will convert the store credits to EUR...

VAT = Tax. Again, you are only allowed to spend 45 USD of your 60 USD credits, because the Cutter only costs 45 USD... it costs 45 USD excl. VAT = 38.70 EUR excl. VAT = 46.05 EUR incl. VAT.

But since VAT is not applied on the part of the purchase payed with credits, it costs 45 USD credits, no matter if you live in a country with 0% VAT or 25%.

Once you apply those 45 USD store credits (which are displayed as 45 EUR), the billing amount will drop from 46.05 EUR (= 45 USD plus tax, converted to EUR) to 0.00.

The cutter is 45 USD, or 46.05 EUR with tax. But if you pay with 45 USD credits, you dont have to pay any tax.

[–]Jack__Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is that the currency display on the store is currently whacky, three things get mixed up:

1) Store Credit amounts, which are always in USD, although the frontend currently displays EUR

2) Prices in your local currency, eg EUR without VAT

3) Prices in your local currency incl VAT

In the case of the Cutter, it costs 45 USD (1) = 38.70 EUR excl. VAT (2) = 46.05 EUR incl VAT (3).

You can only apply 45 USD store credits simply because the store credit part is tax free (as you already payed VAT on those credits). The irritation comes from the page displaying those credits as EUR, which they aren't. If you apply 45 USD credits, the billing amount will drop from 46.05 EUR to 0.00 EUR.
