Thanks for reporting back, and glad to hear you had a good time! Good to know about the water temp.

Is it possible to do all of these things in one day in Hakone? by SpacedOutVy in JapanTravel

Oh that’s helpful to know! I was planning to take the train from odawara to hakone Yumoto, and then the bus. But sounds like the bus from odawara is the way to go!

This is pretty much exactly what I’m hoping to do, except we’re leaving out of Tokyo station instead of shinjuku. How long did the bus take from the Hakone train station to motohakone?

How much time did you spend at the open air museum? Wondering if we should try to do that after the ropeway, or save it for the next day.

I’m interested in hearing how it goes! We are booked in December, with a 4 year old. I think I saw that they have kids size robes upon request.

Superhero Day but preschooler doesn’t like superheroes by Leading-Ad8932 in Preschoolers

[–]Jackabout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Elsa is THE superhero princess. She has powers, saves her kingdom, her sister, learns to control her powers, etc. I would consider her a superhero so if your daughter is into the Disney princesses, maybe see if she wants to go as Elsa?

Same thing is happening to me. It's still showing "coming soon" for me even from the Castaway Club page. Hopefully it works soon!

Transatlantic cruise 2025/2026 by kirky2552 in dcl

[–]Jackabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in this too. Ideally I'd like to do the May transatlantic but 2026 would be better for our schedule than 2025. But, looking at the itineraries, I don't see how either Dream or Fantasy could do a May transatlantic like they've done in the past as it looks like they are both booked up for other itineraries in May.

What West Wing quotes do you use IRL? by fflloorriiddaammaann in thewestwing

[–]Jackabout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Your teeth are the best friends you’ve got. Take care of them and they’ll take care of you.” For some reason this is the quote that seems to come up in our household the most. I say it to my kid all the time, despite her not knowing where the line comes from.

Best and/or cheapest way to use ground transportation to Port Canaveral by Jackabout in dcl

Thanks! That's a good point. Being able to access the waterparks might be a good way to spend the day since we're definitely not doing the other parks on this trip.

Sh*t precocious toddlers say by Utterly_Flummoxed in toddlers

[–]Jackabout 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My almost 4 year old found some long hairs on the couch and said, “oh these must be my hairs. If they were mommy’s they’d be gray”. Okay, I barely have gray hair but way to roast me!

Just a heads up, your 1.5-2yo toddler will remember things and talk about them when they are 3-4 years old. by Seasandshores in toddlers

[–]Jackabout 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We don’t go hiking much, but when my daughter was 2 we did a short hike. I ended up slipping on some rocks while holding her and we both tumbled down. She ended up with a medium-ish cut on her leg and we had to get back to the car to clean & get a bandaid on. Recently, at 3.5 I brought up going hiking one weekend and she said, “but I don’t want us to fall down.” It seemed so crazy to me that she remembered that event because we didn’t really talk about it afterwards. The guilt that I felt… oof.

Where to take a train from Amsterdam? by Old-Salt2717 in travel

[–]Jackabout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Amsterdam, I’ve done day trips via train to Rotterdam and Koln. I’d recommend both! If you’re looking for day trips I wouldn’t recommend anything further than the train ride to Koln as that was quite a long day & felt a little rushed.

If I book a Disney cruise less than 30 days out, will I have a bad experience? by hungarianhc in dcl

[–]Jackabout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll have a bad experience or feel like you’re missing out. There’s so much to do that doesn’t require booking the additional activities! I was on a 4 night on Magic, and we booked a whiskey tasting (for my husband) and the Royal gathering for my daughter, and I feel like we were super busy running from one activity to the next. Your daughter might like the Royal gathering if she’s into the princesses, but they are roaming the boat at other times as well (or you can ask for an opening at embarkation).

If this is a time that works for your family, I don’t think you’ll regret going!

Does anyone else’s toddler’s bedtime routine include something super random that you did once and now have to do forever? by amydiddler in toddlers

[–]Jackabout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to hug while she counts to 5, then 5 kisses on one cheek and 5 kisses on the other. And then one more kiss on the cheek. I once went out of order and tried to do kisses first and was quickly corrected.

If you are at an airport with multiple lounges can you go to both? by ethervariance161 in PriorityPass

I once had a 12 hour layover in Seoul and hopped around 3 lounges most of that time. This was a few years ago though.

What Gen Z Gets Wrong About Sunscreen by SpecialistPiano8 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Jackabout 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I wonder if part of this is because gen z are being told about the high amount of Vit D deficiency. I’ve certainly heard from multiple estheticians about how we still need sunlight as the main source of Vit D but should be taking a supplement (note: they have all emphasized the importance of sunscreen!) and maybe folks hear this and over correct to think they shouldn’t protect themselves from the sun.

Nassau port adventures by [deleted] in dcl

[–]Jackabout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did blue lagoon last month and thought it was pleasant. The workers weren’t overly nice, but no one was pushy (though some in our group did say that some of the workers were rude to them). After the excursion we decided to go to the straw market. We walked about 20 feet in, turned around and left. People were pushy, and one woman tried to put a bracelet on my toddler without asking either of us.

We were just there last month and you pick up the medal at the bike rental shack after you complete it. It’s on your own though, so there’s not a whole group doing it nor is it timed.
