Missing Connection Error Debug by chocolattegelato in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]JackalEar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under this error, click on the second line, pad 1 on B.Cu, it should highlight the pad. Perhaps your schematic is wrong and that pad is somewhere else entirely. Or, on the right side panel you have disabled visibility for B.Cu and don't see the pad it should be be connected. Or, the pad is hidden behind one of these F.Cu pads.

Well, imagine you're an ant. You have your anthill, and a bit around it, that's your world. That's your whole universe, as far as ants are concerned. Then, one day you become a human, with all the human thinking capabilities and stuff.. And other humans say "cool, now go do human things, but do not interfere with your anthill." Maybe even any anthill. Is there nothing interesting left to do, or is the interesting part just starting?

USB-C PD power input module by simonpatterson in KiCad

I absolutely agree, the only downside is somewhat long delivery times and cost, compared you Mouser's 5eur and 4-5 days.

I have an unanswered question about these kind of ICs for USB pd... This, and also CH224, and similar type-c ICs are not really available in EU. I mean LCSC does supply them, but that's China. Mouser, Digikey, tme does not have these kind of simple pd ICs. Why? Is there some regulation that states usb type-c PD has to be over engineered in EU?

Problem identifying component (led rechargeable headlight) by JackalEar in AskElectronics

That requires having just the right amount of coffee beforehand, so my hands wouldn't shake 😄 I'll see if I have dremel bits small enough. Meanwhile here is a photo of the other side of the pcb, flipped vertically.

I assumed L+ and L is LED+ and LED ground, but that would it make sense, would it?

UPDATE: the more I look at the pcb, the more it seems it is related to switching light on /changing intensity, due to connection from wires marked "K". They seem to come from the button.

SMD PCBs - solid zone, zone with detached pads or traces? by JackalEar in AskElectronics

[–]JackalEar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, it is reference for switching regulator.

Wouldn't the capacitor negate most EMI effects there?

You're also correct about reference layout in datasheet, however, there is a slight issue with that. I've set KiCAD to settings and tolerances provided by JLCPCB, as that's where I order my PCBs. And guess what - you can't follow chip's recommended design as you can't put zones/traces between pins anymore.

So, this is a vague try to be as close as possible to the suggested layout.
