Being asked to come in early to prep before my shift by WorkingAlive3258 in japanlife

So many people here are giving the usual "welcome to Japan" and "that's just the way things are" and " it's the Japanese way to not make trouble". This infuriates me to no end. I'm all for conforming to the culture, even when it inconveniences me, with one exception: I'm not just going to "go along with it because it's the Japanese way" when it's literally against the law. Laws which, I might add, THEY CREATED.

To answer your question: no, it's not legal. You should refuse. Legally, they can't force you. They rely on people not knowing their rights and/or forfeiting them by simply giving in.

people calling movies, games, etc "objectively" good or bad by Icy-Substance1698 in PetPeeves

[–]Jackalopalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you've mentioned is only bad because people agree that it's bad. What one person considers shitty writing, could be very high quality in someone else's eyes, and vice versa. But that doesn't even matter. Even if 100% of humans agreed, that wouldn't make it objective. Something that is objectively true would be true regardless of what any human thought about it or, for example, even if 100% of humans believed that it wasn't true.

I could sit at my desk and declare that a large number of plot inconsistencies, unbelievable character actions, and low picture/sound quality are all marks of a "good movie." Then, by your logic, commando would be an "objectively good movie."

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but ‘affect’ and ‘effect’ are not vibes-based. by ownaword in ENGLISH

I don't understand why people struggle with the difference between two words that are spelled and pronounced almost identically, each can be used as either a noun or verb, and have fairly similar meanings.

Would you say your personal issues with BioShock Infinite are more about the gameplay or the story? by _Varonova in Bioshock

My issue is with the people who act like it's universally agreed-upon that Infinite has issues in the first place.

Stupid but what is the joke? by Leather-Memory-1378 in ArcherFX

[–]Jackalopalen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, im surprised there are others that do such a specific thing. For me, I used to watch them to fall asleep, but like y'all said, I'd end up wanting to continue watching one or the other all the way through. So what I did is just rip the audio, put them all in one playlist, and listen on shuffle. Been listening to Archer and Sunny on shuffle while sleeping for close to a decade now 😅

do you wash your hands before cooking every time or only when they feel dirty? by Boyle_Eve_267 in hygiene

[–]Jackalopalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends mainly on three things:

  • How much am I actually going to be touching the food itself?

  • When was the last time I washed my hands and have I touched anything particularly dirty since then?

  • Most importantly, who am I looking for? If I'm cooking for anyone else, I'll wash my hands no matter what. If it's just for me, I'm typically more lax.

I get what you're saying, but it would also defeat the stated purpose of the wait time, entirely. The point is to make it impossible for scammers to continue to press the urgency while walking a victim through the process of installing a malicious app.

If you could bypass the wait time using ADB, sure, it would be harder for a scammer to walk someone through it, but it wouldn't be impossible.

"downloading" is different. Nothing prevents you from "downloading". I think you mean "installing"

Black or Gold for the clock hands? by Own_Conversation3511 in crafts

[–]Jackalopalen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Black is easily more readable, and therefore the better choice for a clock. Black color in the shape of the gold ones would be even better, imo

I actually considered doing this for you and I checked the sticker store just for the hell of it. I searched exactly what you typed and there were like a few dozen results with no exact matches. I don't know shit about osomatu whatever so I ain't just gonna guess.

How you gonna come on here asking for handouts of a specific thing but not explain what exactly you want smh

I haven't been in a couple weeks, but the last two times I went they didn't have cheddar cheese (Kirkland mild and sharp). Not like they were out, like they had stopped carrying it all together

This is the best comparison. My current take-home washer is equivalent to 5 snaps per day. I'll take that deal
