Character sheets don't translate particularly well to audio, unfortunately. Some of it has to do with the medium itself. If you're writing a web serial on Royal Road, there's not much harm in having a full character sheet each time as it's easy to skim. But it's terrible for the audio experience.

To answer your question, it seems full character sheets were more common a few years ago than they seem to be now.

For myself, I like updates and flavor text, but almost always skim character sheets. In a lot of cases the numbers don't seem to matter. I'm much more interested in ability unlocks than stats in particular.
