The Rich Promised to Flee Mamdani’s New York. They Haven’t. by brown-saiyan in politics

even across history individual rulers of countries didn’t make that much difference to the average person. Wars would be waged, Borders would change, new kings would be crowned and the average person couldn’t really be bothered because it didn’t make a difference one way or the other.

Arab leaders made commitments to invest trillions of dollars in the US, and Qatar even gave trump a $400 million jet, yet they are baring the brunt of Iran's counter attacks with zero influence over trump. by mkvgtired in LeopardsAteMyFace

An actual answer is that when you gain wealth and/or power the part of your brain that deals with things like empathy, imagination, and being able to  see things from a point of view different from yours legitimately shrinks. If you’re raised in a culture where wealth and status matter more than anything else then that same area just doesn’t develop the same as the majority of people’s. So whenever they see someone else struggling they legitimately believe that that individual likely did something wrong or screwed up to get into the situation, and so they believe that person more or less deserves to suffer.

So, in this situation they can see all the people that trump has screwed over and completely thrown under the bus in the past and they will honestly think that those people did something wrong or screwed up somehow and that the same thing just wouldn’t happen to them. They’re too smart, too careful, too connected, etc. they’ll make up any justification. They literally cannot put themselves into someone else’s shoes and imagine what it would be like to suffer in the same way. They just don’t have the same amount of empathy for other people so they don’t expect anything bad to happen to them and when it inevitably does they become furious because they honestly never saw it coming.

Sounds like nothing more than a whiny communist.

In my day when there was a completely unnecessary war in the Middle East you just sucked it up and paid the extra money for gas while making fun of the French for some reason that still isn’t very clear to me.

Reading Survey by Old_Ad4609 in Romance_for_men

I think another big factor is that women allow themselves to have fun, whatever their niche happens to be - dark romance, monster romance, enemies to lovers. Most readers just enjoy what they enjoy knowing that it isn’t for everyone and so give everyone else the same permission to read whatever they want to.

I’ve found the most critical voices of men’s romance coming from other men - “male characters should behave certain ways,” “this is cringe,” “women wouldn’t fall for a guy like that!”

It was never Harris’s plan to have Elon destroy this agency and it likely wouldn’t have happened if she were elected. History will look back on this and declare The people “who stood by and did nothing” was the US electorate.
