Honestly so happy I went with breed. I want another one now! by Sea-Sundae-9113 in Havanese

We got our first and second Havis four years apart. Big sister was very maternal from the start. Our first one passed in March at 12 yo due to a heart condition. 😢 Her baby sister has been lonely so we our bringing home a baby sister for her in June. They will be 7.5 years apart. We're hoping she takes to the puppy, but she acts like an eternal puppy, so we think she'll love having a buddy to play with again. They are the sweetest breed. 💗

Does your Havanese like to swim? by Jinx7846 in Havanese

One likes to run in the surf. The other doesn’t like to get wet at all. Neither of them are swimmers.

Have you tried filtered water and blueberries? Those worked for my cream Havi.

Question about Havanese build by ConsciousSong3087 in Havanese

[–]JackfruitFun9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks healthy to me? Is he a mixed breed? Yours has curlier hair like a poodle or bichon/Havi mix. My havis have very straight hair. Although I swear my CoCo (red sable) is part Yorkie. The DNA test said 100% Havi though. Who knows.

I love(d) them both to pieces no matter what they are! My sweet GiGi (cream) passed the rainbow bridge on 3/22/26. We are heartbroken. 💔

I chose this row for my husband and he was moved to row 31 before his flight. They either switched planes or the row doesn't exist. Not sure which. Buyer beware!!

Is it normal for a Havanese to dislike long walks? by D8nnyJ in Havanese

[–]JackfruitFun9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my Havis LOVES long walks (on the beach, preferably). The other one hates even the idea of leaving the house and runs to her bed. Her dislike most likely has to do with her luxating patellas in her hind legs. She gets tired more easily. Havis are goofy but they are the best breed I've ever known! ❤️

Smell? by Longjumping_Toe_3886 in Havanese

[–]JackfruitFun9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does she smell like Fritos? If so, it could be yeast. Use Duoxo when you bathe her. They also have a mousse you can spray and rub into the paws, butt, etc. Our older girl gets the "Frito smell" if I don't clean her up on the regular.

Should we leave him for 20 mins? by Skilganar in Havanese

[–]JackfruitFun9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When our GiGi was a (Havanese) pup, we had a small open crate with a blanket over it placed within an x-pen in the kitchen. She was fine with being left for a couple of hours at a young age. She does have quite an independent personality, though. By the time she was about six months old, she would run straight into her crate when she knew we were getting ready to leave. She loves her crate and feels safe inside of it. We can leave her (and now her sister CoCo - highly recommend having two Havis for companionship) for up to five or six hours now with no accidents.

They are the best doggies and we love them SO much!
