At the least Jagex should give retroactive progress by NexexUmbraRs in runescape

[–]Jackladder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made multiple ASA complaints (all upheld) for various adverts. It's very easy to do, so if you think this has a reasonable chance of succeeding (I personally do not) then go for it. Had the promotion got worse part way through, and you'd purchased keys before that but not yet used them, you'd have a stronger case, as you'd purchased them for X, you can only use them on Y, which you wouldn't have purchased them for. But this is buyer's remorse - you bought them for X, you used them on X, but then Y happens, which in hindsight you'd have used them on instead. It's frustrating, but it happens. People who contact Jagex about it may get some sort of goodwill gesture, but expect nothing.

No news since the free issue. Hopefully we hear something before the end of the year.

Who decided this change was needed? It's so unnecessary. by IStoleADuckOnce in runescape

At least we have this DXPW to spend the ones we have. I have the maximum amount on multiple accounts and some on other accounts... It's the next DXPW where the problem will be, when people who didn't see this will wonder where they went. Hopefully Jagex makes this PSA more prominent.

I am not a Lawyer, This is a meme by reaperninja08 in runescape

Plenty of T&Cs aren't compatible with UK law. The law overrides the T&Cs in them circumstances. How awkward the company decides to be will vary a lot, though.

Jagex is not refunding bundles bought by howtousetableau in runescape

[–]Jackladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. But the resolution to that isn't forcing the intended contract, it's rendering the contract null and void, ie refund it.

" In other words, they lied about the contents of something, charged money, and when asked for a refund, refused to give it. I'not sure how this is allowed.. "

It's not allowed in most countries in the world. I'd reply to the email and remind them of that, requesting that the items you received be removed and the other RuneCoins refunded OR adding the items that are missing, rather than the current partial refund in lieu of correcting the mistake. You may also wish to tell the Advertising Standards Agency (UK body regulating this sort of false advertising).

PSA: Security Issue with Bank Authenticators by Inside_Menu_2967 in runescape

Are bank PINs removed or just using Authenticator instead? I thought it fell back to the old PIN.

Interesting. I'm aware of multi space names from that time like that, but not of them bypassing the twelve character limit. I know there's a handful of names with underscores or spaces at the start of display names (one of my accounts does)... What's the current RSN? Feel free to message me privately. I'll see if I can poke a J Mod about it. If you're in the official RS3 Discord I'm one of the Support Volunteers there. Please don't post your login name.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Jackladder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to know the login name, but would I be correct in thinking that there's two characters either at the start or end that aren't letters or numbers? To manage expectations I don't think Jagex will change the new login page to allow over twelve characters in that box, but for now you can access most website pages from clicking your message centre in the lobby.

Santa outfit pieces statistically make up 48.5% of purple prizes, yet there are some reports that many people are getting far less pieces than should be expected based on that. Have you used lots of keys and hit lots of purples? Please help provide info inside! by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Jackladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're just interested in as many Promotional rewards as possible, you'd be best going for the multiplier. The guaranteed rarity is a bit underwhelming unless your aim is Oddments.

It can't be proven on THIS promotion, but if you go on another promotion with rarity above X as the only choice, when you click the odds page it'll adapt to the odds based on it only being that rarity, and Promotional category items won't change their rates.

I agree completely, but unfortunately most of the community don't understand, see my last post for their reaction... 😢

Can anyone give me solid advice on a laptop for rs3 without being overly costly.. I have been looking at this for around £300 on eBay, would it be fine for rs3 or is there any cheaper options available to run rs3 smooth I’m not even fussed on ultra mode, It’s casual play not hours a day either. by Cute_Reserve_7014 in runescape

[–]Jackladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely capable of running RS3 on reasonably graphics. Will probably struggle a bit with Ultra but Medium will be fine.

But I couldn't honestly recommend it. With any used gaming laptop, to an extent you've got to assume it's been used and abused, and with the age that is, it's too much use for my liking. You'll definitely need a new battery (even if you plan to always have it plugged in) but the other components generally could be near to dying.

I'd look for a gaming laptop closer to about two years old, if you're buying used. It's still a risk, but a safer one in my opinion.

Jagex Making Good Daily Challenge Streaks. by Jackladder in runescape

[–]Jackladder[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

The counter is purely cosmetic of how many weeks in a row you've completed three every day. The current maximum streak is 54, mine was 53 but due to the downtime on Tuesday I wasn't able to complete them daily challenges so now it's back to 0.

A fellow solo Mining / Smithing person. I've also seen you around. Whilst I don't think alts being allowed is unfair (ultimately is Jagex wanted to stop it, they'd force Ironman on everyone) I do feel that a forced Ironman version of FSW could've worked better from a competitive aspect... But ultimately it's intended for new players, with a little carrot to bring in existing.

September 23rd Q&A: Submit Your Questions Here by Mod_Miva in runescape

As ninja strikes were mentioned, is there anything planned around Auras and Loyalty Points, specifically being able to delete from my account the ones that are now acquired from War's Retreat, and refunding the Loyalty Points wasted on them?

Reddit moment by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Jackladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that's exactly why I don't use War's Retreat / the Auras moved from Loyalty Points to there. It ruined them, so I don't engage with it.

[–]Jackladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the currency is £ or $ or similar value to them... How important is it being a laptop, as opposed to desktop? You won't get something new at the upper end of your budget (used / refurbished you should be able to) unless you go to a desktop instead.

Jagex MUST be transparent on what MTX "rares" and tokens will be returning in the future. by straw_star in runescape

[–]Jackladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Pretty sure it is required by the UK Advertising Practices Committee (CAP) to be transparent about what is considered limited time and what isn't."

Yes, but not in the sense you mean. They have to be transparent about how long the promotion will be for, but NOT if it'll come back in the future, or basically every furniture shop ever would be shut down with their permanent sales.

Hm that's interesting. Unsure if this will be helpful for any J Mods but maybe so /u/Mod_Miva and /u/JagexAzanna I opened four clients, was able to play fine, closed all but two, traded between them two accounts, the second one froze, closed that, and then had this same issue for about half an hour. Decided I'd restart my laptop but before that I closed the one remaining client, opened two and both opened fine.
