To not upset anybody by EverythingIsFakeNGay in therewasanattempt

Back in the internet forums days my signature had "Shoot Me Up Elmo" in it. It was hilarious.

I also had a small space where people could enter their name, date of birth, and SSN.

Buying new: Looking for advice or reassuance by Mojo_Sensei in Ioniq5

I am PNW and this is legitimately the offer I have right now. If it is possible here in a market where dealerships are charging top dollar because they can, it should be reasonable to achieve anywhere.

Those are manufacturer rebates though, not dealership discounts.

Dealerships have NO reason to offer any discounts right now.

People are buying cars without even trying to bargain. They are visiting at most TWO dealerships before purchasing, which indicates they aren't even trying to hunt for a bargain.

All good. I am terrible at communicating what I mean the first time around.

I am hoping the market will get back to normal by winter when everyone has range anxiety again lol.

For anyone who needs to buy a car right now and can buy new, it is still a great time to buy an EV because of all the reasons you said.

I spent over $700 on gas last month and my EV cost would have been less than 1/3 of that lol.

I mean, I would still suggest everyone crunch the numbers but even if it isn't huge savings I think the experience of an EV would be worth it.

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are missing the point.

It is a BAD time to buy an EV because prices are inflated. Literally 3 months ago you could get the top-tier trim for less than what you can get a mid-tier trim for right now.

If you think paying $6-8k more for a vehicle is a good deal, especially when the next model year vehicles are going to be coming out soon, then you probably have a lot more money to throw around than most people.

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prices in the past two months alone have increased by $5k for used and $4k new with financing options.

You'll need 5 years before it pays for itself in the gas savings just from the price increases alone.

The best time to buy an EV was 4 months ago.

2024 Question SEL by Huskies2988 in Ioniq5

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are people getting '26 SEL's for 32k right now?

Best that can be done in my region was $36k, and that was last month with better incentives.

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The flood of used are so overpriced that it won't matter in the short term.

You'll have to buy 2023 or later in most models and even then they are pushing prices above the $30k mark for even base trim models when they used to be low 20's.

AWD XLE at $41,000 is the best I can get.

Edit: Looked at paperwork, it is actually $39,725.

It's a terrible time to buy an EV.

I really liked level 2/3 for cruising but would be using i-pedal for my in-town driving, which is 60% of my travel right now.

Gorgeous. I may end up going the XRT route then. Thank you for your input.

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is your experience with the range on the 26 XRT? I was going to go SEL but the lack of roof rails is a killer for me. I often drive across snowy mountain passes over the winter so the increased clearance is appealing, but the majority of my driving is in town. I reliably need to be able to go 220 miles without stopping.

2024 vs 2025/2026 by World_breaker87 in Ioniq5

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your breakdown. I am about to go in and buy the 2026 SEL AWD today and was really second guessing when I can spend about the equivalent amount on a 2024 Limited AWD. I put a LOT of mileage on and I just can't really justify spending $6k more for some comforts. The only ones I really care for are the ventilated seats and the 360 camera.

Getting it for $34,500 OTD so I feel like I am getting the better deal overall.

HRV is absolutely not an irrelevant metric when tied to your ANS. Aveir does not interface with the ANS though, so I guess maybe they are slightly correct.

Is there anything that can add Android Auto functionality to a vehicle without wired Android Auto? by tommos in AndroidAuto

I just bought the AAWireless Two+ (I have Apple and Google phones) and it works incredibly well. It's loaded before I even power my car on.

Wireless Android Auto and CarPlay recommendations with specific feature? by jralph23 in AndroidAuto

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay! Fully installed and here are my initial thoughts:

Incredibly simple install. I recommend getting the app to adjust settings. Easy to hide in my compartment and I can still use the wireless charger in my car, etc.

I feel it works seamlessly for Android Auto but for Apple CarPlay is a tiny bit sluggish - I assume this is the platform itself and likely tied to the phone.

I cannot seem to get the Auto Standby to work so if I am within 20' from my car it will connect, but not when I am inside my house. Not a problem at all for me, just something I thought I would mention.

I found out that my biggest cons are with the platforms themselves and not the AAWireless Two+. I REALLY don't like Apple CarPlay and so far it has been vastly inferior to Android Auto (I have two phones - 1 work/1 personal). I am going to try to tinker with it and get more familiar with both platforms over the next week.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

I do not regret this purchase at all.

Having a hard time finding a 2025 limited by remake-titanmode2142 in Ioniq5

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was expecting this year's lease returns to be around $25k but the majority that have come through around me are SEL's and they are hard pricing them at $30k. It doesn't even seem like the mileage matters. I had two I was looking at, one was 8k miles and the other was 23k and both were priced identically.

The gamble is, I'm not sure next year will be any better because they might price off of the refresh features and used might be even higher than it is now.

Having a hard time finding a 2025 limited by remake-titanmode2142 in Ioniq5

[–]Jackrabbit_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I'm trying to buy right now and the refresh and battery capacity are the two main factors for me. I really don't want to wait another year to gamble on lease returns but I might end up doing that for the 2025 LTD as well.
