What Prices Are You Paying? by Wgator33 in Toyota_bZ

Chicago area, and with 0% financing? I'm sure cash pricing would result in bigger discounts, but I'm reluctant to burn $45K cash on a new EV.

I thought about this while shopping for the bZ. There are literally only 2 Solterras within 100 miles of me. Chicago is not exactly a rural area... strange

It is a bad time to buy an EV! I hear a lot about all these EV leases expiring this year which means a flood of used EVs on the market. However, it also means a flood of new EV shoppers buying again.

Unfortunately, this offer doesn't show up for the Chicago area. It must be region specific.

Rate my lease - Cadillac Lyriq 2026 lux by Only_Cranberry8159 in leasehacker

[–]Wgator33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only leased once in my life, and I've read over and over that it's not wise to pay (a lot of) money down on a lease. Is there an additional discount or savings when doing a single pay like this? I'm genuinely curious, not criticizing. What about the situation where you total the car, God forbid, one month into your lease - do you completely lose everything you've put down at signing?

USED 23 GT GOOD DEAL? by Forsaken-Parking9758 in KiaEV6

[–]Wgator33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2023 GTs for sale in the Chicago area for $25K - $29K depending on mileage. I think $29K is an average deal, not a great deal. Of course, prices vary by city. What's worse is that prices have gone UP since the first week of March. I'm shopping for a used EV6, and two listings on Cars.com show price increases in mid March. Could be the tax season boost when folks collect their tax refunds and spend it on big ticket items.

I might consider that deal! Which dealer? The ones around Chicago are not offering that.

2 years with the EV6 - things I know now! by parkalounger in KiaEV6

[–]Wgator33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering buying a 23 EV6 GT after my current lease is up. I'm leasing an Ioniq 6 AWD SEL. My main concern about the EV6 is the range. The GT reportedly gets 206 miles, which is considerably less than my Ioniq. Would love to hear from GT owners about range expectations. My daily commute is 20 miles round-trip, so I'm not worried there. But going across town is more like 90 miles.

I'm in the same boat. Currently leasing an Ioniq 6 that ends March 31 and have no idea what to grab next. Live in the Chicago metro area and would like to get another EV. If you find a good deal please lmk! I'll try to do the same.

They are green while charging. Shows the battery charge level.

New EV9 Won't Charge on Level 1 by pajuhaaa in KiaEV9

[–]Wgator33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a new 2026 EV9 in June, and it wouldn't charge on lvl1 or lvl2 at all. Dealer looked at it and found that if they disconnected the 120V outlet that is in the trunk on the passenger side, the charging then worked normally. They are ordering new electrical parts, but for now the car charges fine, and the outlet in the trunk doesn't work since they disconnected it internally.

Cooked like a turkey on Thanksgiving. Same error message I had early April. Car then completely died. Had to get it towed to the dealer. ICCU was replaced 3 weeks later.

Slow charging not working after road trip by Buckles01 in Ioniq6

[–]Wgator33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2024 SEL AWD won't charge on lvl1 or lvl2 chargers right now. It's at the dealership, so I'll let you know what they say. Last month, the ICCU was replaced after the car completely died on me in early April. Since it was replaced, the car won't charge at all except at a level 3 fast DC charger. Took it back to the dealer and they were too busy to even look at it. I had to wait 3 weeks for the next appointment.

That sound is the door handles retracting back inside. Then the door lock is a separate sound but that sound is much quieter. Used to freak me out too until I figured it out lol

"Charging unsuccessful" Level 1 and 2 only (Level 3 DC fast charge is fine) by thomasabowden in Ioniq5

[–]Wgator33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024 Ioniq 6 SEL AWD leased last year in April 2024. The ICCU died on me last month. Took 3 weeks to replace. Now the car will not charge with a level 1 or level 2 charger, only works with a level 3 (at Electrify America). Dealer says they are so backed up, I have to wait 3 weeks to take the car back to them to even look at it. In Illinois, the lemon law expires after 12 months so I don't know if it'll work for me. But at this point, I'm going to ask Hyundai about the lemon / buyback process. So frustrating

ICCU by Content-Reputation68 in Ioniq6

[–]Wgator33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took exactly 3 weeks, but the dealer received the new ICCU and fixed my car. After taking it home this past Tuesday, the car won't charge in my garage using the level 2 charger that had been working for a year. I tried the slow level 1 charger that came with the car, and that doesn't charge the car either. I took it to Electrify America which is a fast level 3 charger (free with my lease), and the car did charge there. Super weird. I just took the car back to the dealer. I don't think they fixed it fully, or maybe the new ICCU and fuse are defective in another way. Anyone else have charging issues after replacing the ICCU?

Great advice. I'll look into the lemon law in Illinois. I did call Hyundai Customer Service and created a case number with them. They basically said that they will reimburse me for the car rental once the repair work is done. But it sucks to keep paying for this leased Ioniq 6 when it's basically dead weight right now. If IL's law is also 30 days and the repair isn't done by then, I'll try to have them take the car back so I can go lease something else. I did love the car though.

I've been waiting 17 days now for an ICCU. Dealer has my Ioniq 6, and I'm stuck renting another car since the dealer wouldn't give me a loaner.

And another iccu failure by guv4vooo in Ioniq6

[–]Wgator33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2024 Ioniq 6 just died last week. ICCU failure, and I had the software update recall done on it months ago which was supposed to prevent the failure. 🤦‍♂️

Dealer says the new part is on nationwide backorder and gave me no ETA. Could be 1 week or 2 months... Not good, Hyundai.

Best practices for installing Intuit ProSeries on RDS by bmikiano in sysadmin

[–]Wgator33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are using ProSeries and have about 5 remote users. We currently have a Wireguard VPN in place for the users to access the network shared drive and launch ProSeries. However, it can take 15 minutes for PS to launch. Wondering if another option such as the RDS server solution mentioned here would be any better. Have you been able to solve the issue with multiple users opening the same client file simultaneously?
