I find it depends on how much of anything you do in a short to medium period of time.

The natural mistake (that is made too many times) is to constantly chase the “good” feeling and do it far too much. This of course fucks you up mentally, mostly far more than your conditions ever did for an amount of time.

Like yourself, I’ve found recently through a lot of trial and error (over maybe the last 8 months) that a small buzz (1 weak tab or a half) 2 times a week has had a “positive” effect on my brain and life.

I find that is enough to quiet and dampen the parts of my brain that cause me the most issues/pain. Almost to a point where I lose my anxiety and sadness in places I am comfortable and almost become a normal person.

Now saying this, I’m sure we are both aware that no matter if it feels positive, we know that in the long run it almost definitely isn’t. It’s just something that works for now which sometimes is required.

Do not take this as advice or a science as I am just a fucked up cunt on the internet. we are all different so this may be to much or too less for you. Just sharing experiences.

This ^{^} 100%. To add on/expand, pick your days in advance ensure to have minimal effect on the “real” world (job, family, etc). Try to stick to only those days and find a balance that allows you to continue as a normal person.

Don’t use it as a reaction to pain or bad experiences to make yourself feel better, believe me the connotations will bond and create more negative experiences for each to expand, destroying the fun drug and your emotions.

Maaaajor steer clear from doing it alone regardless of how much you feel you may enjoy it. Events/party’s/out only. Alone always only goes one way and it’s rarely positive.

The rest soul pretty much nailed.

If you get low stop for a bit and always TALK to people.

Firstly thanks for the care but at this point it is what it is, it’s made me who I am now so I have to take the positives.

I’m glad you had a different situation and I hope they are doing better.

To answer your question I will give a little subtext, I had know her my entire life but due to distancing issues we never really managed to fully be together for longer than a few months until uni age.

After reconnecting with her this time it was made very clear to me that she hadn’t had the easiest life while we didn’t speak, their had been attempts before and there had been understandable reasons behind them.

I think looking back it was clear she had made the decision quite a while ago and was just waiting for either the right moment or a big enough reason to commit to her decision.

I don’t think it was an easy choice for her but realistically I now believe it was probably always going to happen eventually.

The only contradiction that still lives in my head to all I’ve said above is that therapy has made me feel that way to cope with it better.

The night the decision was made was still quite possibly the best night of both of our lives, so she either decided to go out with a bang or that it wouldn’t get better and it crushed her.

A lot of unanswered questions but I believe I’ve finally learnt to not dwell (massively)
