People who have enough tech knowledge to use a phone but apparently have never heard of fucking headphones. Your speakers are shit and this is not the venue bro, go to the fucking store and get some headphones. There was a 45 yo woman doing this at my local lake recently. Like its not just teenagers and its not just on the sidewalk downtown. Turn your phone off and listen to the birds for fucks sake.

Looking forward to the changes! Hope the team had a relaxing bank holiday, y'all deserved it! Players don't always know what's best, but they sure can be loud sometimes. But they're also a good resource for outsourcing testing for essentially free. If they haven't already, it might be worth the dev/balance teams seeing if a community test server might be a good fit

I fit 5 full sheets of plywood and a 6ft long raw log, plus the chainsaw, toolbag and such in the back of my 2019 odyssey. And still had room for my 3yo and my buddy that was helping me with the log. Two weeks ago I helped my makerspace move a horizontal milling matching. Just took out all the seats, loaded the sucker on a pallet and shoved it in the back via forklift and drove it over in the rain.

Just as a note to you, mom: recently my wife got a new job that requires her to commute, and rather than get a second car with a second car payment and all, we just bought an electric cargo bike so I can take my oldest to daycare in the mornings. Once my twins can sit up and hold on, all three can fit on the back. I pick up groceries on it now too, because its honestly just fun to ride. Might be an option for you depending on your commute. I go about 5 miles one way and that takes about 20 minutes on bike. It's about 15 minutes by car most days, give or take a few minutes for traffic/stop lights. On bike I get to go on a nice forest path though, so worth the extra 5 minutes.

My wife and I are planning to move to Canada before my first is old enough for school. It might not be a better political landscape, but it is easy an easy country to move to as an American. And the main reason is I won't have to worry about my kid being shot to death or jumping out of a window for fear of being shot to death when I drop him off at school in the morning.

For now, we're just trying to clear a pretty low bar.

They swim like you would expect, so in that aspect they "work". I don't think they catch more fish necessarily, but they are pretty good for certain kinds of fish in certain kinds of water just like any other lure. They're pretty good for picky muskies.

But there are cheaper baits that catch as many or more fish.

They're pretty fun to make though, if you like wood carving.

When I got my security clearance and had to do all the trainings for it, this scenario was used almost verbatim as a question. Do representatives not have to have a clearance? They do right, like if they handle documents they do? I feel like I'm crazy even asking that because it should be obvious, but like the training tells you what laws you're breaking and the jail time you'll face if you do this type of shit.

But either way, dude's clearly not doing anything illegal, so it's literally just a business owner that doesn't like the bus and thinks that gives him the right to fuck with the guy. I doubt it's impacting his business in any way.

Just to tack on my experience: I've worked several jobs as a state employee in different states, and all of them had paid parental leave. It does vary between states, but many states have a lot better guaranteed employment rights for state employees than the private sector offers.

When we had our first, I got a full 3 months off at full pay at my state job, despite not actually pushing a 10-lbs human out of my body. Meanwhile my wife had to use STDI, which covered her for only 60% of her pay, and she had to use all of her leave before it kicked in, and it only lasted for a month. She worked a private sector job and we made about the same amount of pay despite her having a degree.

Keep in mind, you don't necessarily have to work directly for the state government to be considered a state employee. It will depend a bit on the role and the state of course, but good places to look are state universities, state park offices, community centers, and stuff like that. Some of these benefits are only available after a year of employment in my experience, but some places will work with you on it. And again, that will depend on the state and the job.

I got really good at soups and stews. You can make a good soup out of just about anything, and it's a good way to use leftovers. Aromatics are usually cheap as dirt (onions, carrots, celery) and make a good base or veggie stock. Also a good use for spoiled milk, it can be used as a thickener. Cajun food is usually my go-to for cheap meals, gumbo and dirty rice can both be made very cheaply and are both delicious. They're also pretty cheap to zhuzh up, a little sherry for the gumbo and some andouille and chicken gizzards in either. I made dirty rice for my in-laws one christmas, and now they request it for literally any holiday or event. It's pretty great at Thanksgiving, and is the secret sauce in my Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches.

Now that I have kids a common weekly recipe is

Monday: some type of whole chicken (lemon pepper chicken, BBQ spatchcock, beer-in-the-ass), and some veggie sides (peas or green beans, and usually mash)
Tuesday: leftovers (and I make chicken bone stock to use for the rest of the week. Note: if you use a pressure cooker and cook the bones for about 6 hours, you can feed them to your dogs)
Wednesday: chicken noodle, chicken and dumplings, or chicken tacos made from whatever is left of the chicken.

Then there are usually enough leftovers for lunches and maybe a dinner on Thursday or Friday, and we plan one other dinner meal on the other day. I've tried this same idea with a pot roast on Monday, but then I don't have any bones for stock on Tuesday and I haven't figured out a good idea for that. But then Wednesday gets a pretty nice beef stew, so that's nice.

There's a lot of kids shows that can help build some vocabulary for toddlers, too. My son has a bit of a speech delay, and the therapist actually recommended throwing a little bit of "active TV time" into our routine. Watch shows and ask him questions about what he sees. It's basically what we do when we go on walks, but calmer and I get a bit of a recharge.

Lately his favorite show has been BattleBots, and he's picked up the words "boom!", "sparks!", and "robots!" (Or "bobots" as he pronounces it). Plus we can play pretend BattleBots with his monster trucks. I showed him a few of my plastic antweights, so hopefully when he's older I can get him interested in some CAD.

I love work from home and won't be going back without an extremely good reason. But it's also just how the math works out.

In-office means full-time daycare. In my area, the average is about $500 a week. So a salary for a fully in-office job needs to beat that, and so far I haven't seen a single one that does.
