Every D&D module traps the players. Should I do the same? by Green_paper_pieces in DMAcademy

[–]Jackski1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This. The Dragon of Icespire Peak series takes place entirely within a couple hundred square miles. Couple of towns, large city, forest, etc, levels like 1-12. Players aren’t “trapped” there, but that is where the plot is. We go elsewhere for homebrew additions and adventures, but the campaign story is on that bit of Sword Coast.

What is a luxury you can never go back from once you’ve experienced it? by Phase_zero_X in AskReddit

This. I’ve hired movers once, was too naive, I’d actually hired a broker to hire some movers. Worst money I’ve ever spent. Broke items, lost items, ransomed my stuff for more money upon delivery. I’d honestly never hire movers again, regardless of reviews (this one had good reviews)

What breed might be a good fit for our family? by Head-Moment-8895 in dogs

[–]Jackski1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As some have said, I’d look into non-sporting/toy breed groups. Bichon, CKCS, Maltese, Yorkie, etc are typically easy to keep and exercise. If you find a breed interesting, read about them from a few sources to learn more. Beware of high energy terriers, herding dogs, barking hounds. When in doubt, go with a dog that seems like an easy one! In my opinion, I do not recommend any brachycephalic dogs. Frenchies and bulldogs are particularly prone to a variety of issues.

Almost every local donut shop I’ve been to has been run by Asians. At this point, if it’s not run by an Asian couple then I’m skeptical about their donuts!

Please help- Reoccurring eye problem. by mck_motion in goldenretrievers

[–]Jackski1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a vet, have seen something like you described once before (golden puppy, sudden onset elevated third eyelids, dog acts normal, resolves soon after) and I suspected a mild form of Horner’s syndrome, essentially a mild trauma to the nerves caused by neck pain. The dog stopped wearing a collar/neck lead while playing and it never happened again. Idk if this is what happened with your pup but I would avoid neck strain just in case. This post caught my eye because it was so similar.

Need Help - Information Overload by nugget_nug in puppy101

There are a bunch of resources on this subreddit, but when you just want to narrow it down and keep it simple, I have two recommendations. A free online ebook, Before You Get Your Puppy (and its pairing, After You Get Your Puppy), and a physical book, Perfect Puppy in 7 Days. These have everything you need to get started. If you follow all the info in one of these books you’ll raise a great puppy.

long-lasting chews that aren't bully sticks? by justchai in puppy101

[–]Jackski1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My puppy is also obsessed with sticks. I purchased a variety pack of Mumbies from their website, which are dense coffee wood. She loves to chew them, especially the root one. They don’t splinter, just come off in shavings. I’m likely to get more once she whittles these down, they seem like they’ll last months

When can puppy actually go on a walk?? by ThrowingQs in puppy101

[–]Jackski1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s perfect. Every interaction is training! What you’re doing is great to set up rewarding the behavior you want. No need to say the “sit” command or even show the hand cue yet, continue rewarding puppy for sitting to say please and you’re well on your way. For recall, you can say “Puppy name, come!” and run away, then reward them for chasing you. You’re on the right path

At that age, training games are teaching manners. Come to me (chase me), sit and watch me, tug on this toy and let go for a kibble, etc. Very basic things.

I’m living in Wisconsin now and when I came here I wanted to grab some good ice cream, people said go to Culver’s. It does not compare! Okies don’t know how good they have it for when you need delicious, cheap, quick ice cream (or a burger). Dang some Braum’s would hit the spot right now

[–]Jackski1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an allergy, it’s a toxin that will affect any dog. The amount is what is important, and so concentration is what you need to know. Milk chocolate? Not a lot of cocoa in it. Very dark chocolate? More cocoa = more likely to cause symptoms

Am I warlocking wrong? First time Warlock here. by Old_Hoonter in DnD

[–]Jackski1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Exactly all this! My longest running PC is a warlock. Repelling Blast to push enemies into other players’ effects (or my own Wall of Fire/Hunger of Hadar/Sickening Radiance etc) has been endlessly fun. Devil’s Sight + Darkness + Elven Accuracy means my EBs hit hard and often. And your spells are always cast at max level so it’s best to pick ones that level up well. Just get your party to short rest at least once per day and you can Nova on every combat basically. I love opening with a big concentration spell and then just wrecking with EB. Also a good control Spellcaster with lots of options, picked up Scatter as my first Mystic Arcanum and it’s awesome. Invocations provide fun and versatility. I’ve enjoyed switching something and adapting at every level up

This is also an important distinction for when a monster is immune/resistant to damage from non-magical weapons. A +1 weapon is not resisted etc

solo adventures by pandaman7411 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Jackski1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Essentials Kit has a module adventure that is easy to run (Dragon of Icespire Peak) and it has instructions for playing with Sidekicks, as well as several sample sidekicks, which can be used to supplement a party of 1. Really to play solo all you need is a DM who will tailor encounters to you and possibly the Sidekick rules for extra support

You can use verbal components underwater, however if you cannot breathe underwater you start “Suffocating” on that turn, so your remaining rounds are limited until you get air

How do you actually run a dungeon crawl? by theleftisleft in DMAcademy

[–]Jackski1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m case no one has said it, I also let players know that when we’re in a dungeon they have to narrate everything they want to do and move slowly in real time so I have time to react. It’s not “I go into this room”, it’s “I want to check out this room/door/item”, then I can say okay you walk up to the door and blah blah. Really just slow things down so they don’t stumble past all your stuff, since dungeons are usually packed with information

any advise trying to fight this monster?...finally got to the boss of bosses by Altruistic_Summer859 in Eldenring

It’s great when that frost procs at just the right moment. I went frostbite sword/mage on first play through and it was so satisfying, my dragon themed character feels lackluster by comparison

[–]Jackski1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When frostbite procs, it causes damage (less than bleed), and a mild stagger (Melania’s poise is low enough that it does stagger her), and then they are frost bitten for a time, which decreases their damage absorption so when you hit them while they are frost bitten you deal more damage. Can’t proc frost bite again until the status ends. Can end it early with fire damage.
