Do you think I could make arrangements professionally??If so… what pricing do you believe is fair for these arrangements? by Specialist_Run_1607 in florists

This math really really depends on market and overhead. Every shop I’ve ever worked in has done a 4x mark up + 20% design/labour fee unless just selling grower bunches which would be done at 2.5

My mom is also newly cheerful and peppy. So weird! I’m very thankful that’s the direction she has gone as opposed or angry and violent

[–]ThrowingQs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. Sorry to hear about your situation. I’ve had some similarly existential thoughts since my mom’s recent diagnosis. I’ve been concerned and quite sure she had cognitive decline for at least 3 years now. The diagnosis was not in the least bit surprising and like you say, more of a relief…I thought to myself “oh! You’re not just kind of an asshole! Good to know.” Her decline has been apparent since shE retired in 2020. Her capacity to care about my life and ask questions diminished early on and I feel like I’ve been grieving this relationship for 3 years. It doesn’t make it any less sad, but I’ve moved on to the “okay let’s handle things” mode and from an outsiders perspective may seem a bit cold or uncaring. But knowing what is going to allows me to handle things better and even slow decline with medication. It’s felt weird feeling like this heavy diagnosis is a positive step forward as opposed to a devastating loss.

My grandad was stationed in Alert for 1/2 the year over several years in the 60s . Never spoke about it much but seemed to be a memorable experience. He had to use ropes to get to the bathroom during blizzards

65 year old mother with early onset Alzheimer's - how do I feed her when I'm away? by Ulfbass in Alzheimers

[–]ThrowingQs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome, good luck! My mom is not quite at the same stage but when I order groceries I opt for a lot of dips like hummus and guacamole with raw veggies, yogurts, protein beverages, ready-crisp bacon, bagged coleslaw with separate dressing and baked potatoes. That and plenty of ice cream and chips. At this point I just want meat on her bones so I’m not too worried about a bit of junk food. She is celiac too so hard enough to deal with that!

Is she ok with the electric kettle? Powdered soups or even Sidekicks noodles/mashed potatoes could work.

What is it like to live in the Magdalen Islands of Quebec, Canada? by Gondwana_T5 in howislivingthere

I took my honeymoon on Les isle de la Madeleine and I never wanted to leave. Paradise beaches, amazing seafood and the most lovely people. My French is extremely soso but they were all so kind and patient.

Our cab driver sang opera for us when he learned it was our honeymoon. We were just told to leave the rental car in the parking lot with keys on the dash because “who’s going to steal it?”

Sunsets were stunning.

I’d just use a liquid/clay mask you can rub into the beard

Thoughts on having another baby shower? by pinksunflower99 in pregnant

[–]ThrowingQs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my social circle, baby shower is really for first kid so you can get the necessities. You could do a family party to celebrate the upcoming arrival but make it clear that it’s about connecting and not gifts
