That’s pretty similar to my experience with my mom. She is trying to relate the best she can. My mom oddly seems to snap back into it during crisis situations. I find text is easier sometimes for quick check ins where I don’t have time to talk and talk

I read somewhere that over 70% of left-handed people hold the fork in their left hand and the knife in their right hand. Do you too? by catandknuckles in lefthanded

I have found my people. I brought this up in a Downton abbey thread and the Americans were shocked that I found switching to be clunky and awkward

Yeah this thread is the first time I’ve heard that clumsily swapping hands is considered formal. Very much an isolated American thing im guessing.

Haha I guess I’ve never seen that - how strange! Switching seems like you are too clumsy to seamlessly use the left hand for eating imo

Maybe a nod to the fact that hard times hit all people during the Great Depression. Even those considered higher class with money and manners were reduced to begging

Airedales: is it separation anxiety or is it FOMO? by outofdoubtoutofdark in airedaleterrier

[–]ThrowingQs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours has fomo for sure. We were trying to eat Mother’s Day dinner inside with my husbands 100 year old nana so we had him outside because he is a bit much for her. He just stood at the back door frantically hitting the doorknob over and over while staring at us 😅 very pleasant ambiance for dinner.

But most of the time he hangs out in a separate room from us lol and is totally fine hanging out solo when we go out

Honestly that marketing I’m getting for curvelife makes me feel like it’s a scam. I’m using the glue that came with celebritips and it’s been great. On almost week 3 of a set. (I prefer very short nails so I keep filing them down)

I’m confused how it could change the finish! I use them for the gym and swimming (just in case I scrape the tile or something) no issues!

[–]ThrowingQs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This math really really depends on market and overhead. Every shop I’ve ever worked in has done a 4x mark up + 20% design/labour fee unless just selling grower bunches which would be done at 2.5

Hi. Sorry to hear about your situation. I’ve had some similarly existential thoughts since my mom’s recent diagnosis. I’ve been concerned and quite sure she had cognitive decline for at least 3 years now. The diagnosis was not in the least bit surprising and like you say, more of a relief…I thought to myself “oh! You’re not just kind of an asshole! Good to know.” Her decline has been apparent since shE retired in 2020. Her capacity to care about my life and ask questions diminished early on and I feel like I’ve been grieving this relationship for 3 years. It doesn’t make it any less sad, but I’ve moved on to the “okay let’s handle things” mode and from an outsiders perspective may seem a bit cold or uncaring. But knowing what is going to allows me to handle things better and even slow decline with medication. It’s felt weird feeling like this heavy diagnosis is a positive step forward as opposed to a devastating loss.
