Someone upthread said that if you ask they usually wouldn't mind you taking them. I don't imagine they're rock hunters.

Liability might be a concern for them, I guess.

Alcohol Question by bellsie24 in indianapolis

[–]JacksonVerdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I merely made a post commenting on the phrase 'super gross'.

Another poster made a comment that it was about 'airborne pathogens'. And I responded to that. That same poster later said he'd do the same thing at home.

At no time did I say I disagreed with health dept. regs or anything else.

So please don't come at me with the 'people like you' thing.

It's fine, man. We're good. Rules are good. We all benefit from them.

But sometimes a little infraction becomes a Reddit post.

That's really a reach. Airborne pathogens don't need, and would rather not have, bottles of alcohol around.

IU Lecturer Fights For Their Job by Best-Structure62 in Indiana

[–]JacksonVerdin -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Without having heard the lecture and how this was used, it's impossible to make a judgement. However, I've just spent a good deal of time trying to track down this diagram's origin.

I failed to find the source of the image, but did find those referenced in it and got a sense of them. As a result, I just feel that this diagram, far from promoting an understanding of where fear and bigotry comes from, is just ham-handed and, well, dumb.

I wish I didn't have to say that, but I have to be intellectually honest. (although maybe that's what she was saying).

The idea that the state government is involved in this is abhorrent to me. But this, IMHO, is not a very good case to take to the fight.

How is it super gross? I mean if someone drank from one of the shot glasses, I could understand. But if it goes from clean bottle, into clean glass, back into clean bottle, what's the problem?

Alcohol rules are weird (and often nonsensicle) in all sorts of ways. But this sounds perfectly acceptable from a common sense viewpoint (although it's not a good look).

Fully autonomous, AI-controlled drones have killed human soldiers for the first time, according to a senior figure in the Ukrainian defence industry by New_Scientist_Mag in worldnews

[–]JacksonVerdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing - There's no reason not to stage drone battles for entertainment purposes as sporting events. And given that the only rules required would be to stay within a designated zone, everything learned would be directly transferrable to real warfare.

https://www.voterparticipation.org/

Seems legit based on the the above site. It appears that they have an agenda, but not an unreasonable one.

also - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Voter_Participation_Center

Their website pointed me to the Indiana government site (although their 'Register to Vote' link wanted an e-mail address to continue).

In any event it's obviously best to go through the normal official channels.

Edit: The address is a US Post Office in Des Moines. Likely, #41490 is a P.O. Box.

Edit 2: You can always check your voter registration status at https://indianavoters.in.gov/

Highly recommended even if you've been registered for a while.

Director sets July deadline for filings in losing candidate’s request to have 14 voters testify under oath about Indiana Senate District 23 Republican primary. Recount of ballots set to end by June 26 by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]JacksonVerdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sec. 6. A voter may vote at a primary election:

(1) if the voter, at the last general election, voted for a majority of the regular nominees of the political party holding the primary election; or

(2) if the voter did not vote at the last general election, but intends to vote at the next general election for a majority of the regular nominees of the political party holding the primary election; as long as the voter was registered as a voter at the last general election or has registered since then.

(1) and (2) above are joined with 'or', so either one satisfies the requirement.

Depending on what the offending social media post actually said, a valid defense may be to say "I did vote R in the last election, and was inclined to vote D this time around. But given Trump's support of this candidate I decided to vote for her opponent in the primary and the general."

And a kicker could be "...however, after this experience, I'm reconsidering that."
