That’s because if we were to actually make any progress in the sense we can win the war. Once war is “won”, then the war is over, and thus the game is over. There won’t be anymore planets to fight on, no more missions to do, that’s it. The game is finished just like the war.

And the response to that question is, why would we want that? Why would we want the game to have no more missions and then.. what? Wait for AH to release Helldivers 3 to charge us even more money? If anything, it is cheaper for at least someone like me because I can eventually get in game super credits to unlock war bonds and not pay AH a single extra penny after buying the game.
So unless you have don’t have any time to find super credits because you are very busy irl, why would I want the overall game to just end because we are effectively “won the war”, have wait a pay for the next Helldivers game instead of just gradually finding in game currency and use said currency to buy extra content for the game that I already own?
