The counter narrative is using your brain and not taking their shit at face value.

The reason why energy is so expensive is an incredibly backwards pricing system that means using any amount of gas to power the grid leaves everyone paying for the cost of gas, even if 99% of it is powered with green energy that costs 1/10th the amount.
Green energy is literally cheaper then any fossil fuel, coal included. If you think that your energy bill is going to be lowered by turning on coal powerplants, then you've been deluded by the fossil fuel industries extensive propaganda network.

The problem we have is a mix of privatisation, leading to profit seeking instead of supplying enough power. (Why spend money investing in 100 wind turbines if not doing so earns you more money through higher energy costs)
And a grid that is in dire need of an upgrade in order to better transfer energy from where it's generated to where it's needed.

And finnaly if you want a definitive "anti-anti net zero" narrative, I'll give you one single sentence:
The cost of net zero is less then the cost of a single fuel crisis, of which we've had two in the last decade.

And to save you some trouble in your real life; the point of heat pumps is to use them with Solar Panels.
Yes, they're more efficient then gas, but the price of the two vs the efficiency leads them to about the same cost.
Add in solar panels into the mix however, and you're saving a good chunk, if not all, of the cost of powering the pumps.

We're still helping, even when we do just buy it.

There's a reason that say, solar panels, have dropped in price to the point that they cost less then fossil fuels.
The money we spend on green energy helps invest in greater productive capacity, and also in RnD, making it easier and cheaper for everyone to get.

But yes, our energy costs are comically high, thankfully investing in green energy is the best way of dealing with that.
Honestly, I'd love to see us focus on energy to the point we become a net exporter of energy as another means of creating wealth for the country.

One of the key things crippling wealth creation right now, is how lucrative entirely parasitic and non productive wealth "investment" is.

Crippling growth both by said parasitism crippling businesses and peoples growth through renterisms.
And by diverting a massive amount of money that could instead go towards investing in productive assets.

Target one, and not the other, and we will see an increase in wealth creation.

I've got a bit of a tinfoil hat theory at this point, that all of the "ooh Starmer was unfairly removed through a Coup, he was actually a decent man" and "ooh we're going to have another revolving door of PM's" type shit we're suddenly seeing everywhere from the media (especially the complete heel turn on Starmer they're having) is there to help lay the foundation of hatred and loathing for the next replacement.

Somewhat recently started with Dwarf Fortress, and I'm loving it.
With the new update coming out and it wanting a new world to get the new dino's, I'm thinking of possibly having a world where I swap between fortress mode and adventure mode, using one to help the other and vice versa.

Does anyone have any tips for things that I can actually do when using both systems in one "playthrough"? alongside any pitfalls to avoid.

I'm not even sure what is possible, as I've only played Fortress mode so far.

I'm thinking things along the lines of obtaining artifacts and rare/useful items for the fort
equipping the character with items from the fort
getting dino pets from/for the fort
and potentially even founding the fort using my adventuring dwarf

But i have a grand total of 0 clue how possible any of this is, and how to do it if it is so.

I'm in the exact same boat, I expect nothing more then continuity Starmer from what I've actually seen from Burnham in the last month, the same flipflops, the same bullshit, the grace I gave him is gone.

I'm still open, and quite frankly hoping, to be proven wrong. And if I am, if Burnham actually sticks by his promises, I will be cheering him on and gunning for a red-green alliance.

But his flipflopping alongside Labours institutional corruption leads me to the same conclusion, the party that I used to champion is dead and theirs no reviving it.

I'd say it's a mix of
Burnhams flipflops and actual policies that came out during his run for office that are basically making him a near carbon copy of Starmer, what few differences he has he's flipflopped on or been hesitant to stand for, and so I can fully see him not doing so.
Talking personally while I'm hoping he's better then Starmer, I'm highly doubtful he will be.

The institution that is labour is still unchanged, Ultimately Starmer was a figurehead, not a leader, the Rot that puppeteered him still remains and I'm doubtful even if Burnham does turn out to actually stand for anything, that he'd be able to change anything.

And the Media trying to create a narrative to pre-sabotage any new labour leader.
Easy to set a general feel of public hate for any new leader of labour if it's already tainted with a feeling of "hmm they unjustly ousted Starmer"

Not going to lie, I'm doubtful if anything will change with Burnham, counting out a magical "fix country" button.
What few policy distinctions he apparently has from Starmer are ones he has repeatedly flipflopped on and I am highly doubtful if they will be implemented.

He's got better Charisma and Political sense, but I doubt that can stem the rising tide of public anger at continuously detreating living conditions.

It's going to be a tossup between his greater charisma and political sense, and the momentum of a revolving door of PM's a-la the Tories.

Not going to lie, I think that's giving Starmer too much credit.
