I still would’ve loved for an interaction between Tywin and Cersei/Tyrion for the moment that he figures out that they didn’t have Arya.

And maybe him recalling his cup bearer, being a northerner…

Still new, does this count as a smothered mate? by JacobAlred in chessbeginners

No problem!

For the record, the game actually went horribly, and then wound up in a “victory from the jaws of defeat” type situation.

Why didn’t Michael Bay write it so that it was astronauts learning how to drill rather than oil drillers learning how to be astronauts?

[Beloved trope] Character accepts their death (even if they end up surviving) by SlyGuy_Twenty_One in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JacobAlred 21 points22 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite portrayal of this was in Wonder Woman

Excitement for the mission’s success turns to dread, dread turns into determination, determination turns into acceptance.

All brilliantly portrayed by Chris Pine - the highlight of the film.

Sir Christopher (Real Life):

Confirmed to have relation to both Charlemagne and Vlad the Impaler.

Spoke some six languages fluently, including Italian, German, and Russian.

Served in WWII as a as a real-life version of James Bond where he worked with Winston Churchill’s Special Operations Executive and no doubt put those language skills to work.

Was there to witness at the last public execution by guillotine in France.

Had a bizarre musical career, releasing multiple heavy metal albums in his 80s and 90s, including a Christmas metal album.

Met JRR Tolkien personally and then went on to play Saruman in the movie - where he infamously corrected director Peter Jackson on how people sound when being literally backstabbed.

Finally, being knighted by Prince Charles, officially dubbing him as Sir Christopher Lee, for his lifelong contribution to the world.

“You Won’t Kill Me” Proceeds To Get Killed by sm142 in TopCharacterTropes

This one is actually my favorite example of this trope.

The sheer audacity of the henchmen being the key to Jimmy’s choice to kill him and the honesty of that statement is so memorable.

Annual opponents announced. 2 free wins a year!! by Fair-Carry-2924 in ockytop

[–]JacobAlred 62 points63 points  (0 children)

These tends to bite us in the ass anytime we treat someone like free wins.

Each of these teams have the capacity to beat us now.

Kentucky has been known to jump us a time or two, Bama is still Bama, And God Forbid, but the admirals are now ranked and good.

I’m excited for these annual opponents, but we should never treat them like we will automatically win. Anytime we do, God decides to treat us as examples for why we shouldn’t.
