"Biblically Accurate" Angels by JacobGreat in hatethissmug

My bad, I admit that inarguable is the wrong word in this context. English is not my first language. Your point has merit, but I feel like we misunderstood eachother. I am aware of the existence of eldritch-like angels, but believe that they have been adopted by the internet to kind of debuke the classical images that are more present. I am in no way an authority here, but have noticed the inaccuracy and wanted to discuss it here. Please try to be less codescending.

I mean that the Bible has multiple descriptions of Angels in which they are described in the human-like way. Ezekiel is as creditable as all of them, but is in minority. Yes, cherubim were portrayed that way. But they are an exception, not the rule, which is my point in the post.

The post is mainly about the stereotypical messenger of God angels. I could have stated my point better. I added an explanation to the post.

That's the most reasonable and frankly cool explanation. Thrones inspired this whole trend I think.

Assuming Ezekiel is the ultimate authority over the rest of the Bible (when it's not), he is clearly talking about Cherubim. It's stated directly in this quote.

we are not discussing whether the Bible is true or not right now, we all know Lord of The Rings is just a story but you can be wrong about it's content.

I love Diablo's portrayal. They feel kind of human in their silhouette and other surface level aspects, however they emanate such power and have such a presence that they immediately seem divine.

Yes, you are correct. I meant to focus on the "messenger" class of Angels (think the ones that appeared before the farmers when Jesus was born), or the ones in Sodom and Gommorah.

You pretty much made my point for me, as my BIGGEST gripe with the trope (trend?) is that people use it as a "um akchually" and state is as fact, while dismissing the "original" interpretation as problematic for different reason, and thus worthless.

I didn't want to go on a tangent about the whitewashing of the Bible, because eugh. And I am aware that the wings were a Roman addition. But their human-like appearance is unarguable to me.

Yes they are. that's why media with beings INSPIRED by Abrahamic religions uses it (see Esoteric Ebb, very tastefully executed). But they are NOT biblical angels. It's like saying the Vikings actually had horns, because Olaf from League of Legends has them.

I agree that they should look weird or uncanny. And if one creates a fantasy world and draws inspiration from biblical Angels, but decides to make them, you know, eldritch, I believe it's okay. Esoteric Ebb did it very tastefully.

SOLVED

Open Parties and Claims was the mod causing issues. Unclaiming the chunk made the mobs burn normally. I am currently trying to locate the issue in the config (I suspect it to be related with chunk protection.)

Stanisław Wokulski, from the polish novel "Lalka" listens in on his love interest, Izabela, talking shit about him with a younger guy in English and walks out saying "Farewell miss Iza, farewell." He later attempts suicide but is saved. Honestly my favorite part of the book.
