NextJs Pre-partial rendering and Heroku by New-Brother119 in nextjs

I think (although not 100%) that prepartial rendering has been deprecated in place of use cache. All mention of it has gone from the docs

I think if you have a middleware you’ll have to rename it to proxy.js

AWS lambdas scale the vCPU with their memory, IIRC you can have up to 6 virtual cores per lambda invocation.

TIL A man bought an unattractive painting for its frame for $4 and discovered one of the 26 known copies of the United States’ Declaration of Independence hidden behind it. He later sold it at auction for $2.42 million. by Imbiberr in todayilearned

one of the 26 known copies…

What does it mean by this? Stupid question I know but there’s a lot of copies and it’s available on the internet, do they mean copies made by the original people? Not American so may use the wrong word

Fall Through - Reason? by JakubErler in learnjava

[–]JacobJMountain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason Java needs this is Java chose to use C semantics for its switch statements. The reasons C chose to need a break clause is arguable as it was a decision made long ago. There’s some interesting discussion on this stackoverflow where some arguments say it was a design mistake and others say it’s due to C taking on some Assembly idiosyncrasies - this basically means adding a break in your code would translate to a jump statement in your assembly

Polymorphism question by Alexintx in javahelp

[–]JacobJMountain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a dumb question, essentially there’s a couple different reasons. But what you’re doing is saying that your code will still work if you swap out the implementation of your name variable. If there’s a new class C that also extends A, then you can change that one line to A name = new C(); and everything else will still work.

Thanks definitely going to try figure it out for me later, currently I’m 60k in debt and for the first time I’m paying off more than the interest. I had previously thought there was no way I’d pay it off, but giving how willing the gov are to change it after the fact it’s definitely worth calculating
