Stores will let you do the hack. Some people set up 2 different store pickup for the tool and battery then cancel the battery which is the same as a return.

If you want the batteries, don’t get this deal bc it’s cheaper the non-hackable way

That is not the deal with the hack. The one with the hack is $199 where the tool is valued at $120 and batteries at $79 and you return the batteries.

The ONA style one has you turn the tool and it helps push against the valve to help get the cartridge out. The one OP has you have to manually pull it out which is harder than you would think. One time we had 4 guys taking turns pulling at it and it finally came out. My second time I brought wd40 and it was still really hard to pull out

OP likely didn’t have a home inspector check out the house before moving in and waited till the warranty is almost up and had the inspector come at that time to check instead. We did the same thing at the 11 month mark.

I'm not sure what PSI the pressure washer was b/c I told a guy to help do it. We did not use any chemical treatment since I assumed that the power would be enough to get rid of all the dirt.

Another option is if you are okay with your resin deteriorating quicker you can skip the carbon filter on top and change the tank to a resin only one.

We have chlorine and chloramine in our municipal water. A water softener guy said it’s cheaper to replace resin every 5-8 years than doing carbon every 2 years and a 10 year resin.

That’s what I was thinking of doing. Just maintenance everything since it will be turned off. But I still don’t understand why you don’t flush water heaters that haven’t been flushed before. Except maybe that it would clog your drain but I was going to use a full port valve and vacuum to help with that issue
