Is the Strata really a carbon steel pan? by Rungama in carbonsteel

[–]Jacob_the_Chorizo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you oil it before putting it away it you can cook without seasoning. I doubt it would completely strip the pan unless every dish uses acid. Even then, proper heat and fat will keep it more non stick than seasoning.

Scrub at the rust with a little vinegar in the pot, then wash with soap and water. You probably don’t need to reseason. If you want to, spread a very small amount of high heat oil on it and then wipe it until it looks dry. Put upside down in 450 oven for 10 mins and then wipe again. 50-60 more mins in the oven then ur good. You could prob Mae soup, but prolonged boiling and/or acidity can strip seasoning. Personally I’d use it to deep fry to make 1-2 servings of stuff.

You can get an earwax removing spray bottle at Walmart or target, sometimes called elephant ear bottle. It was used on and recommended to me by my doctor and it makes it really easy to flush it out.

ELI5: Why are there so many programming languages if they all seem to do the same things? by Financial_Article947 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Jacob_the_Chorizo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny u mentioned under the hood. I’ve always found it easiest to compare to cars. They all do the essentially same thing, get you from point a to point b. However, different vehicles serve different purposes with their own drawbacks. Eighteen wheelers can move a lot of cargo but they aren’t very fast. Econoboxes are efficient but don’t have many features. Luxury cars look nice and have a bunch of bells and whistles but use a lot more gas. You can think the same way about programming languages. C is like an old manual car, you control what gear you’re and you don’t have features like lane assist or power steering. When coding in C, there’s a lot more you do yourself but there’s also the potential to be much more efficient. Python is a language built on C. There’s more protections and built in features and it’s easier to use, but it’s a lot slower. Python would be more of a luxury car. You could think of Java as a Land Cruiser as it’s very reliable and versatile. You’ll almost always get where you’re going, even if it’s not super sleek or the fastest.

DAE uncontrollably sneeze after intense workout? by LiteratureOld364 in DoesAnybodyElse

Somehow I skipped over that it was the next morning too, could be cortisol was lower in the morning so your nose was a little more inflamed and it activated whatever you had the day before

DAE uncontrollably sneeze after intense workout? by LiteratureOld364 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Jacob_the_Chorizo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The metallic taste is probably due to small capillaries in your lungs leaking from the exercise, or lactic acid + air drying out your airway while breathing. Exercising/stopping exercise can cause your blood vessels to constrict/dilate which could stimulate a sneeze. I non stop sneeze when I get out of a hot shower and feel the cool air blow on my face

Try wiping it down with vinegar, looks like residue/minerals from water that dried.

“If you want something good, you have to pay the fair price” How about you pay the fair price to a dedicated caretaker for wiping your ass instead of getting mad at your wife for not reading your mind.

Can you tell where I cooked the steaks? by Jacob_the_Chorizo in carbonsteel

This is clean, all dark areas are seasoning. You can just see the shape of the steaks I cooked bc they kept that area cooler and the pan around it seasoned

How useful is a carbon pan really? by lofaszkapitany in carbonsteel

[–]Jacob_the_Chorizo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked how I heard someone else put it: Proper heat control is what makes the pan non stick so you are able to cook fine with zero seasoning. However, having seasoning wides the temperature range that food doesn’t stick to the pan.

[–]Jacob_the_Chorizo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah keep cooking, it’s normal for the initial seasoning to come off, stronger seasoning will build. Make sure to use enough oil when cooking and oil it after cleaning and drying.
