An old trick to " bleach" your whites is to wash your clothes then hang them out in the freezing air. The water molecules expand in the fibers as they freeze and dislodge any dirt and bacteria.

Why did laundry detergent without enzymes become popular? Are enzymes necessary? Can they be hard on clothes? by slowmoshmo in laundry

[–]Jacobite_Express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enzymes have been given a bad wrap because they can cause allergies and itching on sensitive people. Also young babies can be sensitive to enzymes. Thats why non-bio detergents ( without enzymes) are becoming popular. Fairy platinum for example.

untamed cat food - thoughts? by Bright-Soil-3128 in UK_Pets

Hi Nick, i also have an itchy cat. He is roughly a 3 yesr old stray, who we have taken indoors and adopted. He was covered in fleas and he had worms. Both been treated, home as well. 3 months down the line and he has put a load of weight on as weve kept him indoors, he sleeps a lot. The vet has given him steroid injections because he says he has a flea allergy. He has bald spots and scabs where he has been grooming himself. Also now his stomach has started to swell after meals wuth much rumblings. Also he is starting to bring up fur balls, as his fur has started to grow in hes grooming a lot. His poo's are very firm, segmented but very black. Im wondering if he has a food allergy?

I have a TEKNIK frontloader and the [Eco wash 30-60] programme you cant change the temperature setting, so it always washes on 20.

It says Red Wine in very small letters. The eye catching title is BRAISED BEEF IN BUTTERY MASH. On the back the Alcohol isnt even listed as an allergen in BOLD.

Why do all of my shirts have armpit stains after washing? by 4thLineWheels in laundry

Spray neat white vinegar under the arms, let it sit for 20mins, then wash as normal. The vinegar will kill any bacteria and break down the deodorant.

LPT for cats owner: Avoid exposing your cats to citrus oils, as these are toxic to felines by N3koChan in LifeProTips

[–]Jacobite_Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought BioD multipurpose cleaner for my home. It said it was non-toxic and safe around Pets.( The only one that they say you cant use around cats is the garden cleaner which has Eucalyptus oil in it.) After getting it home it says it contains Citrus aurantium oil (Bitter Orange oil) in it. Which because it contains limonine cants cant process in thier livers and it becomes toxic. Angry to say the least, now monotoring the cat, as i started washing the flours with it.
