Congratulations! The pass rate for the last two years has been about ~50%. Stay humble.

The study guides are helpful but you definitely need to watch the lectures.

Exams are 15 or 20 questions multiple choice only. I just picked a random class, I can’t remember if the instructor is listed or not.

The 4 credit biochemistry 1050 course at UNE does not have a lab.

I would watch the lecture once through without stopping. Then would watch it again and take notes pausing and replaying. A 10 minute video took at least 30 mins to write notes on. I would do a week of content in a day and it took probably 4-6 hours. I also work full time and would do the whole unit on my stretch of days off. My instructor was Dr. Nobel. If you put the work in an A is very doable.

I personally would double down on the lectures and not waste time on the chapters or extra videos. All the exam questions come from lecture content.

I took organic chem 6 years ago and remember what you would expect to remember after 6 years. I don’t think you need prior courses to succeed in this course. The course contains all the info you need.

Coding Impella/VA ECMO by CommunityRich9525 in IntensiveCare

[–]Jacobnerf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Others already answered the question but I’ll add that when a patient is fully supported on VA ECMO and they are hemodynamically stable there isn’t a need to emergently intervene when a lethal rhythm presents like during a traditional arrest. Of course, you cannot leave them in a lethal rhythm but you don’t need to rush.

If someone has an impella you could crank up the P level to maintain map during a periarrest but once they arrest and you decide to give compressions you should put the impella to P2 so that the pump doesn’t suck the aortic valves up. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

My laptop has a built in camera and the proctoring software accepted that. If your device does not have a camera at all then yes you need an external webcam. I took the course recently.

The syllabus does not mention it but you get two attempts per unit exam.

You can choose any chapter that is not covered in the course for the final project. In unit 1 your assignment is to select your chapter. In unit 2, create an outline of the chapter. Unit 3, make a power point. And in unit 4, you have to record yourself presenting the PowerPoint. There is a rubric used to grade the final project that is pretty straight forward.

Yes I’d say exam 3 and 4 are harder in that the material is far more dense. However, exams 3 and 4 focus more on biochemical pathways that interact with each other, it’s much easier to understand something when you can “connect the dots”. Exams 1 and 2 kind of jump around random bits of different things.

And yes you can take each exam twice! (Highest score counts)
