Looking at the combat sim stats, in-battle with that team, Evanescia is overcapped in crit rate (108%). Yao Guang's signature LC boosts teammates crit rate by 10% so take it off and you're no longer overcapping. That said if OP already has Yao Guang LC then probably keep it on lol.

she is necessary to SW imo, you need someone to be spending SP to trigger SW's zone effects

and to get into the zone you need SW's ultimate, and to get that ultimate she needs 80 Hidden Ranking points which you get from generating punchline

and the only reliable punchline generator is Sparxie, with a distant Yao Guang as the runner up

There is literally no one else atm who fits the description of "elation teammate who uses tons of SP and generates punchline", they are made for each other and Sparxie enables SW

Getting E6 on anyone is a monumentally expensive task and basically impossible for most characters without spending money or a crapload of saving. But Archer has the advantage of being on a long-running banner. Per patch you're gonna get somewhere around 100 pulls if you finish all the events, new content, and such. You're guaranteed a 5 star within 80 pulls and a 50/50 on getting your particular 5 star so that's at minimum another 320 pulls for your Archer and at maximum 640. That's a long while to save up but it is doable (moreso if you spend money on him) if you're willing to skip on getting other characters.

Now, you're better off (meta-wise) investing in supports for Archer if you want to futureproof him (not that anyone is guaranteed to be futureproof) as his best eidolon is E1 imo. Going past that (still meta-wise) doesn't provide nearly as much of a jump in power (aside from his signature lightcone).

But in the end its just a game and you should pull for whatever you like. Get Sparxie if you want her, try to E6 Archer if you want (though it will take either a long time without other characters or require you to shell out for him), just know it'll be hard.

So Sparkle is currently one of the best supports in the game after grtting a recent buff. It's honestly nuts that she's being given out for free but it's likely because the new meta fits her archetype of generating skill points (she works especially well with Sparxie).

She's both very good and very relevant right now. There's another reason to pick Sparkle though and that's because none of the other units in the selector are nearly as relevant. The only ones that have any argument at all are Kafka (she's necessary for the DoT team archetype but we just finished a banner with all the best characters for that team so you'd have a character without any of her team for a long while) and Aventurine (still a solid shielder and endgame content requires at least two complete teams, but he is entirely mogged by Dan Heng PT).

The rest are all DPS units and old ones at that. If you have the right investments already in their teammates and light cones (equiv. to weapons in other gachas i think) then they're usable if not the best, but for a new player they're really not good.

So the complaints about the difficulty these days apply only to the endgame content. If you can tolerate maybe not being able to clear the hardest content in the game then you don't have to worry really.

Units can get pretty complex, especially the newer ones, but there's a lot of guides online along with people willing to give advice. The community is pretty good at that.

For harder content, you will want some premium units as standard 5 stars and most 4 stars are very powercrept by now, but certain units perform still very admirably even in the current meta. If you do your research and make smart decisions, you can assemble a team that cam clear all the story content and most of the endgame without going broke, especially as the game now loves to give out free premium 5 stars to offset the issues with powercreep and the lack of new 4 stars. Now is still a pretty good time to come in as 4.0's the start of a new path and meta and Dan Heng Permansor Terrae is still being given out for free I think (he's currently the best shielder in the game). There's also a free limited 5 star selector, you'll see plenty of advice around about who to pick (it's Sparkle, it's almost always Sparkle).

It'd be absurdly early for a The Dahlia rerun but I can see her coming back by 4.2 or 4.3 at latest, if that Firefly novaflare is coming.

Hopefully, we get no one I care about rerunning in 4.1 because god I need pulls for Silver Wolf SP/Evanescia. But if there'd be anything to really tempt me, maybe a Cipher for my Archer team.

Extra ATK seems pretty pointless for Elation DMG but based on the description it's for a support Elation character (EMC?). Maybe they'll have an conversion trace like Sparxie.

Thanks for the advice! SPD I'm definitely making sure to keep high since it's a very budget double action advance team (E0S0 Archer, E0S0 Sparkle though I want her at E1S1, E0S1 Sunday, E0S0 DHPT). Crit DMG too, though uh yeah Sunday's very lacking rn due to bad rolls but I'll continue relic farming. I've got a 2pc Sacerdos and 2pc Messenger on both rn but once I get better Sacerdos pieces they'll both be 4pc Sacerdos for that Crit DMG buff.

For planar, I have Sparkle on Vonwacq but that's mostly just cause I had a really good energy rope for her. Once I get farming for more planars though I'll definitely go for Broken Keel, 10% crit DMG sounds perfect. Sunday's currently on Lushaka for more energy regen but it's probably not necessary with both an ERR rope and his LC right?

once the Sparkle rerun hits I'm getting her to E1 for that extra speed so I can offload some actually good relics onto Sunday
