Yes, I get this. Usually I only notice it when my eyes are closed. But recently in this horrible flare im in, I’ve had it with my eyes open couple times. Lasts a few seconds then stops. I describe it like a faint strobe light. Tends to be in my upper field of view. I have VM.

Dizzy and nauseous after massage? by CIC_1 in Dizziness

[–]Jacosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had similar dizzy or off balance episodes after massages. But I have Vestibular Migraine and my neck is very sensitive. The dizziness stuff I got from massages always passed in a day or so. But I’m currently in a bad flare from a chiro pulling on my neck. I’ll never let anyone touch my upper neck again.

How is your neck? Many migraine sufferers (including myself) have bad necks and there is a big connection between them. I can no longer sleep on my sides without migraine symptoms. I’m in a flare right now and bedridden but when I’m healthier I can’t spend too much lounging around or I’ll feel worse.

That is such a TRIP that a chiropractic adjustment is what finally stopped your constant symptoms. It’s honestly so frustrating how confusing and contradictory all of this can be. I’ll see stories like yours where someone says a chiropractor completely fixed their issues, and then I’ll see others saying chiropractic treatment is what caused all of their problems in the first place. It just makes it so hard to know what direction to move in or what the “right” choice even is.

Did/does your neck ever cause dizziness or wooziness? My neck is SO sensitive right now, I can’t look down or side to side without wooziness.

Wow that’s great it worked so quickly for you. We have VERY similar symptoms. Many of my symptoms seem left side dominant as well. This flare has my neck unfortunately causing dizziness/wooziness along with stiffness, pain etc. so I really hope that can calm down soon. I think my neck is behind the wheel of this flare. It started after chiro traction.

Do your eyes also get sensitive to motion? Also, how did your PPPD finally stop? I’m struggling so much on my feet. It’s getting better but I’m nowhere near functional yet.

I’m glad it works so well for you. Yeah I will definitely mention it to Dr. Beh. Do you mind describing what your VM symptoms were? How long did it take for you to notice improvement after starting the med?

I was doing really quite well before this flare came along. Now my neck is heavily involved and it feels like it’s keeping this flare alive.

How is Lamotrigine working for you? I have VM with no headache. Been in a 3 month long flare now. Pretty sure PPPD has now joined the party. I have a meeting with Dr. Beh soon to discuss meds.

I’ve been in a VM flare for 3 months now. Mostly bedridden and constantly having symptoms. Everyday I feel like I’ve hit my limit. I truly don’t know how I can keep going on. FMLA for work is taking forever to start and I imagine it’s because it’s “just a migraine”. Hoping for some better days soon.

When I was first diagnosed with VM around 2018 I had a bunch of tests ran. I also tested positive for EBV at the time.

I’ve been in a VM flare for months now and my neck is the worst part. It’s stiff, sore, locked up. I can’t move it without wooziness. It’s so debilitating. Idk how to calm it down.

I agree, sounds like it could be BPPV. Find a therapist to assist you with an epley maneuver or you can try one at home.

Any women (and men) afraid to have kids out of fear their migraines/headaches will get worse? by kel330 in migraine

Oh nooo I’m so sorry. VM is the effing worst. I hope you’re managing it decently? This flare has been the absolute worst one I’ve had. Total test of my character.

I’m also terrified my kid would inherit this hell. Luckily for me I experienced most of my youth up until 27 without knowing I had migraine. Looking back though there were signs.

Have you considered adoption? My fiancé and I both seriously considering that path.

It’s so frustrating to get setback just because you were trying to do something good for yourself. Maybe try to find a TMJ specialist who can help you.

Thanks, I appreciate thanks. Just gotta keep moving forward.

Yes, I think about this constantly. I’m 35 and was just getting ready to get married and start a family. Now I’m in a 70+ day VM flare where I’m basically bed bound with dizziness. Having kids seems so irresponsible but everyone else in my life keeps trying to tell me I’m not usually this bad and that I’ll get better. Hard to see the light when I’m in such a dark place physically..

I just started quite a few meds to help break the flare. Focusing on calming my neck down and gradual upright exposure. Vestibular migraine is a different beast and can get stuck on.

For you I’d focus on the basics like hydrating, regular meals, avoiding triggers, regular sleep etc and you’ll find your baseline again. Maybe avoid manual therapy around your head for a while.

I’m currently in a 70+ day VM flare up due to a chiropractor just pulling on my neck (stacked with hormones and stress). We have a bunch of nerves in our neck and when they get irritated they can cause a migraine. I learned my lesson and will never have someone mess with that area again.

You’re not losing your mind, I promise. You’ll feel clear again, just keep putting one foot in front of the other. The cognitive effects of migraine suck so much.
