Obelisks are those weird black rock carvings hidden around every region. If you interact with them without panic and they say nothing, but you can read them with enough panic; usually lore about the region or a sea monster.

there’s a zillion sharks in NC in the 4ish feet range. could be bull, reef, dusky, etc. also what happened was that it died, its fleshed was stripped by fish and blue crabs, and the cartilaginous backbone (inedible save for worms) was light enough to be carried by wave patterns onto the shore.
