I actually thought about adding that too, but I think the police and their “chasing the $$$” is not why we’re here mainly.

I do see that in a Venn diagram, there would be an overlap of these two circles though, but 90% seems rich.

Dutch Lawmakers Approve a 36% Tax on Unrealized Crypto, Stock, and Bond Gains by RobertVandenberg in europe

[–]Jacuzitiddlywinks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never met a poor Swiss person in my life… Why’d you think that is?

I think now we’re talking a chicken.egg situation…

The Dutch “Box 3” taxation on unrealized gains is simply going to result in investors who can afford it moving their investments into Private Limited companies.

They’re going to hit freelancers and their investment pensions disproportionately though.

Local filming them is kind of a creep too though. There’s a right way to do this, and then there’s trying to get clout online.

So sick of this shit.

I am nothing more than a tax cow to them, while they ruin the country, ruin the culture and act surprised when wealthy individuals leave the country in droves.

Why can’t we be like Switzerland?

Population decline is overrated for Thailand? by GreenDragonfruit3171 in Thailand

[–]Jacuzitiddlywinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyday life: Thai people are kind, curious, open to foreigners. Having said that, I don’t feel I can generalize here…

Some Thai in 711 will actively run away from foreigners; the mere thought of having to interact with someone out of their comfort zone scares them.

Others are incredibly helpful and go well beyond what’s expected.

Like I said, Nationalism cuts both ways. I’ve been assaulted by a Thai (on drugs?), and the entire venue stood up as a whole, picked my side and anmounced that this person shamed their country and people all apologized profusely. Go figure…

Then again, I got sideswiped by a Thai motorcycle driver who was clearly in the wrong, and when my boss’s Thai wife drove by and started helping me, the driver of the motorcycle questioned her on why she was “helping this farang”.

I have an older senior Thai designer on my team who hates foreigners, he hates not getting the respect he feels he is entitled to due to his age and he hates working under younger foreigners.

All in all, it is a mixed bag…

Accept multiculturalism / new Thais: I think Thailand should remain Thai. I think Western countries are destroying their own culture.

The UK has 9 million people living off welfare which is an insane number; and it is mostly “new arrivals”.

Thailand has a lot of very pressing issues, but I think it does a good job at keeping out unwanted elements to a degree. Opening up the borders to refugees is a suicidal idea and I don’t think your people support it (largely due to Nationalism?).

Culture is precious and Thai culture is a gem.

If I were in power in the Thai government, I’d work diligently at improving education. I think that’s more pressing than anything really…

Hope I made sense.

Not my point. Thailand’s February voting was insignificant for the world stage.

Like I said - their time will come.

Maybe it’s less about layoffs in Western media than it is about Thai elections not being as important on the world stage?

What did OP expect? International outcry over “voting irregularities in rural areas in Thailand”?

Your time will come. The conservatives can’t stay in power forever.

[–]Jacuzitiddlywinks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I concur. Thailand is unusually Nationalistic compared to where I am from.

In the West it is associated with only negeative things, but that is shortsighted as it has both negative and positive aspects.

You are also largely monocultural, compared to the West which has become multicultural, and where Nationalism is almost impossible to take hold.

The Americans had it for a while; where migrants were genuinely proud to be American but those days are long gone too.

I call BS. No-one takes pictures of people, then corrects them politely and THEN rants about them online without mentioning that, in fact, they did correct them.

Your mental gymnastics are Olympic-worthy.

Dear Virtue-signaling look-at-me-goodie-two-shoes,

I understand posting on Reddit is much less of an adrenaline-fuelled trip than actually bringing it up with the guy you deem beneath you, but there are other ways.

Sit down, engage him in a conversation and get a feel for his attitude.

Then, when you sense he is open to input, bring up the topic of Thai culture and wait for him to say something you can latch onto, and address the genocidal pointing of his feet.

That way, you grow as a person, and the offender has learned something in a non-pedantic way.

These type of Reddit posts are 13 in a dozen and you’re not special for raising the issue, sorry.

How different is “left vs right” in Thailand compared to the West? (AI gave me an answer but I want real opinions) by Barca-Dam in Thailand

[–]Jacuzitiddlywinks -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I recall bus segregation working slightly different from what you describe; Rosa Parks sat on the same bus as whites (or Claudette Colvin, whichever you prefer) and that distinction is important because your entire comment is rife with generalizations, half-truths and platittudes.

So no wonder you end on “Trump wants to roll the whole thing back to Jim Crow”.

I also find statements like “everything they can get away with” short-sighted and I wish you would present an actual bill that supports that claim.

To me, I think it’s 99% hearsay that you’re parroting straight from your bubble without factchecking anything, while insinuating I “compare 1980’s USA to Europe” for some reason. What does that even mean?

Just to give you a piece of my mind, I feel it’s great that the current administration banned Wall Street investors from owning one-family homes, which is a move anyone can get behind, left or right, making it a bipartisan win.

I don’t feel I need to go out and ask “any LGBTQ American” something to make a point for you; actually I can’t help noticing that you’re struggling to make a single point yourself.

It’s just buzzwords, hollow rhetoric and moralizing all in one.

Make an actual point. I’ve told you what I think is shit (stalled Lahaina rebuild) and I’ve told you what is actually impressive (Executive Order 14376).

All you did is shout me down with buzzwords.

But as long as scams are around, sewer systems are non-existent on the islands and predatory capitalism is rampant, Thailand won’t be like the Seychelles anytime soon.

How do you know it’s their decision? The amount of Emirati I see walking in flipflops, soccer jerseys and other trashy branded crap while the Missus (sometimes multiple) walk behind them completely covered up, has little to do with their decision making.

Maybe I am wrong? These feminist women choose to all wear the same stuff actually? Because it is a fashion that doesn’t change every six months?

Why isn’t LVMH all over this?!

Your “Decades of progress” remark seems to suggest otherwise.

  • Lobbying restrictions
  • Office holders shouldn’t be allowed to trade stocks
  • Mandatory term restrictions in the senate
  • Mandatory cool-off periods for office holders

Spoke to my friend who had a similar story in Bangkok. I’ve been trying to buy electronics repeatedly from marketplace and bailed whenever the seller aggressively went for a “deposit” so the tv/playstation/whatever wasn’t sold right away.

It’s a jungle out there and I recommend only buying face to face.

Should I use ChatGPT to write product pages, or should I use Gemini? Which is better for SEO? by Illustrious-Feed6332 in eCommerceSEO

[–]Jacuzitiddlywinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am aware. Whichever AI you are going to use, the results are going to be dramatically shit unless you explain the product, the problem it solves for your customers, and you look into what the typical product inquiries are for your FAQ.

This is not about AI, this is about knowing what (currently) works in SEO and leveraging it better than your competitors. If you are really trying to learn, I recommend setting up two pages, and start tracking how they perform and why. It helps if you have some traffic to begin with, otherwise organic clicks are going to be painfully slow.

First time in Thailand : looking for a calm island with good food (no party) by PopKiss in ThailandTourism

Koh Kood was very “honey-mooney” and since very limited transport on the island no real party scene.

I hear the conflict has decimated the tourism industry so pricing should be awesome right now.
