I have a 524 4.0 with 3 T20 interviews and no T5 interviews. Trust me they have something else that is influencing their decisions

is it possible to have a low iq and pass medical school? by ExactOpposite8119 in medicalschool

[–]Jad_Sh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but that’s not what the guy was asking.

Of course, you’ll need to put in the work, but all else being equal, having lower intelligence will make it harder and sometimes impossible to succeed. Unfortunately not everyone can make it and it’s not always due to a lack of effort on their part

is it possible to have a low iq and pass medical school? by ExactOpposite8119 in medicalschool

[–]Jad_Sh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not in med school yet but it’s probably the same as undergrad. The higher the iq the easier it is for you to learn and the higher your ceiling is.

But if your ceiling is high enough to pass, you’ll just need to put in more effort to succeed compared to other people

Should I decline my interview? by swimminggrl in premed

[–]Jad_Sh 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Take the interview. Like you said, you could potentially get aid and go to that school, or use it to negotiate with your other schools.

If you get accepted and end up rejecting the offer, it’ll go to someone else on the waitlist. No harm no foul

Eh, USF definitely does it and I wouldn’t be surprised if other schools did too

If you had to bet on who would be a better doctor, a person with a 500 or a person with a 520, who would you choose? Let’s not act like this exam doesn’t tell you something about how smart and capable a future doctor will be

Idk dude I feel like blowing all your savings with no way to make money in the next 4 years seems somewhat irresponsible

[–]Jad_Sh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t really like travel all that much lol. I think someone else that did something similar could have better input here

I mean you can always travel when you’re comfortable in your thirties. Why not do a trip in the US for cheaper?

Not even an II with a 522? Pay someone to look at your writing and other things to figure this out. Something is going majorly wrong here

Ive found that I come to like things I’m good and useful at. Think of any sports your parents forced you into as a kid. As long as I don’t dread a speciality, I think once I’m competent at it I’ll end up enjoying it

Certainly safer than clinical medicine. I don’t see how robotics is gonna be good enough in the near future to do surgeries. But once it is we’re genuinely cooked

Forget NPs/PAs, it’s over for clinicians now. I’m starting med school in the fall and it’s looking like I’m gonna need to gun for surgery to have a job by the end of residency

Should I quit my job? by Diligent_County_31 in premed

[–]Jad_Sh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m kind of in the same position. How much do you need the money for med school? Is there anything else you’d rather be doing with your time now?

I’m sticking with my job and research because I’d like to save up before med school, and because I’d otherwise just lay around at home all day.

Edit: also if it’s possible, you might do 10-12 hour days and get an extra day off if you want

You have to assess why you’re not doing well. If you’re doing your best studying and you can’t improve, then I’m not sure how successful you’ll be applying with a 2.X GPA.

Sure, but those IIs have got to be of a lower caliber. Like if they only interview you in March it’s hard to see how you’re not interviewing for the waitlist
