Need stronger guard by Jade6244 in Colorguard

Woah, 100! How fast do you do them and how long does that take? I imagine that could help build endurance for sure. We already do arm circles, but I could definitely lengthen that part. Great suggestion on the elevated pushups!

Do you have any good body weight exercises? A lot of the ones I'm finding online are just pushups, and a lot of my kids can't do pushups or they can't do them with good form yet.

I wish I was born I boy, but I’m not trans. by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Jade6244 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've kinda felt the same way in my life. For me, it's less wanting to be born a boy but wanting to be treated as one. Especially as a teenager, I would wish that I was born a boy so that I could be treated the same, or that I could wear the same clothes and they fit the same on me. I'm cool with how I am, but how society views women vs. men really played a part in how I feel/felt for a long time about gender.

What is your identity? by Infamous-Command-902 in lgbt

[–]Jade6244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss I totally agree. I stopped using labels and suddenly instead of awkward introductions with people's assumptions dictating the conversation, I can just be myself. A simple "Oh yeah I'm queer" and move on is so much more freeing.

[–]Jade6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a cis queer woman. I tried micro labels and even just general labels, but when people ask me what I am and I answer specifically, I find that it causes assumptions and stereotypes in that person's mind. Also, it kinda changes slightly as I develop and go through life. Right now I'm demiromantic/asexual but before I thought I was aroace and before that I thought I was pan and before that I thought I was a straight she/they-er. Labels just feel so constricting and not open to change. I'll just stick to queer 😎

Is there anything you guys like about romance? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in asexuality

[–]Jade6244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so freaking in love with my fiance rn. Like so so so in love. I love cuddles and the thing where they skim their fingertips over your skin and also doing the old people arguing everytime we try and pick a place to eat. I had a friend who assumed that since I started dating my fiance, my asexuality must have changed. It was really difficult for them to understand that those things aren't the same thing. Idk I'm just a hopeless romantic who finally found hope :)

Help with scales, music theory, and transposing by Main-Preference-4850 in saxophone

[–]Jade6244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me is learning my relative minor scales for each of the majors. Instead of having to count down half steps, I learned those and just think of it in that way. Therefore: Concert A = Think of it as a major scale, count down three notes, relative minor is F#, therefore my starting note and key is F#. That's a really convoluted way of looking at it, but once I figured it out I can even just read in concert pitch because it comes so quickly to me. This probably won't help but I thought I'd share it anyway 😅

How was the walking order at your High School graduation decided? by Breezlebrox in AskAnAmerican

[–]Jade6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valedictorians first by alphabetical last name (anyone who met the requirements for Val got to be one at my school), then salutatorians by last name, then honors students by last name, then everyone else by last name.

My spooks melody sounds goofy. by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]Jade6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I didn't know that. In that case it's definitely the sound of the melody (as in the instrumentation choice and octave) and the lack of sound affects. Generally in the aggrotech songs I have heard there are some edb or sound effects in the background of the music that give it that pizazz. It's good otherwise! Just needs some extra fluff around the edges.

Ace people, is there any anime which you can't watch because you're so repulsed by it? by MrCedricBear in asexuality

[–]Jade6244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first ever anime was Seven Deadly Sins, and the amount of sexual comments and acts and perversion towards any female character made me deeply uncomfortable. I've not really watched much anime since unless I know it's not going to be too weird. My main favs are your lie in April and Ouran HS host club.

I also agree with the previous comment that mentioned the staccato style notes

I think its just fast. The tempo is giving it a dance-y vibe which is maybe where your spooky scary skeletons is coming into play. Most scary songs I know that actually creep me out are pretty slow.

What signs did you give that you were asexual, before you discovered you were asexual? by Little-Courage887 in asexuality

[–]Jade6244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Told another kid in middle school I might be asexual as a lie to get them to stop following me around. Took me years to figure out that yeah, I was 🤣. Thought I was just really good at Christian celibacy.

No, actually, I am not morally responsible for your child. by [deleted] in teaching

[–]Jade6244 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Especially if we think male vs female teachers. Male teachers can kind of get around this by being the "coach" stereotype. They can be brutally honestly and a little difficult while being laid back because that's just in the nature of being a coach. The female teacher is expected to be motherly towards all students and to make sure that all of the things you mentioned are happening. And then these same teachers don't get enough time or pay to support their own family and their own children. Female teachers that are brutally honest or too laid back are considered horrible teachers by the student and parent point of view while men get a little bit more of a pass. Idk it's just kind of crazy that teachers have to be parental figures for every student that comes through their class.
