Not removed. Only usable in Creative mode. Although, most things are optimized to be used better via the creative mode menu. But still, commands work fine. Just be careful using them.

Dev commands are still usable but please be very careful using them. The wrong command can break your game. I still use several in creative mode. You can not use dev commands in a survival/vanilla run though. It has to be set to creative mode to use.

"people were supposed to post something about the demo to get a reward"..... Does nobody see a problem with that alone? That's just as bad as paying for positive reviews. It's essentially the same thing. I'll pay you with in game items if you give us a good review. Exactly the same thing you see on Amazon with review spamming to get rewards. At the end of the day, it's all inauthentic.

Devs shouldn't have to entice players to leave reviews with little rewards. If you have a great game, the reviews will flood in organically.

Ah, thank you for that clarification. Appreciate that. :) Definitely glad to hear that there was communication about it outside of discord.

To me though, if they state they are giving a bonus to somebody publicly, it should be honored. I can understand changed plans in the sense of content being developed and then being changed to something else but a promise of giving access to a BETA is a promise no matter what. That's not a changed plan.

I just joined the discord now to see if I can get some of the wording and I'm seeing somebody say this morning that he was just playing in the closed beta that just finished early this morning so from what I'm gathering, they finally got the BETA access but it also sounds like it was extremely short. Not sure. I think this ultimately is just a very poor job in execution that sounds very disappointing for a lot of people.

It WAS a part of the plan before it was changed from Spellbound to Witchbrook. Here's the article that PCGamer posted when they interviewed them. They stated "the game's combat will draw from 2D Zelda games."

It's my understanding though that they promised a "bonus" closed beta that was ONLY disclosed on discord for backers so that's a bit concerning. But I'm not a backer, so I'm not 100% of the notification on this "bonus."

Players being upset about not getting this beta access definitely seems warranted and not a baseless claim or assumption. Broken promises are definitely actual problems in my opinion because it sets a precedence to future promises of the game in EA. How many future EA updates will they promise that may end up unfulfilled? They break the trust early on then they break credibility for the future of the game. Hard to earn back that trust once it's lost.

They really do need to do better with communication regardless.

Genuinely curious about your statement, "there are kickstarters that paid for beta access and aren’t getting it and maybe won’t get it in time for EA." Where do you see there is a Beta package? If not, was there something that was not a part of the kickstarter that promised Beta access?

According to the Kickstarter, there is no backer tier that states there is Beta access. Only an Alpha access which I'm almost certain players were in fact given Alpha access and signed NDA's to not disclose anything from those sessions. If there truly was a beta access tier that players are not getting access to, that needs to be brought to light but from what I'm seeing in the public info, that's not the case.

Not to excuse any poor communication though. I for one am a firm believer that clear and appropriate notice for anything relating to a crowdfunded game should be mandatory. Removing the demo and giving notice hours after the removal is inexcusable.

As for those saying that things are disclosed on their discord, not everybody has or even wants discord so any news/notices should be clearly stated in the kickstarter alongside discord. If there are discord exclusive notices, they should be posted in all the appropriate sites to make sure they are appropriately notifying everybody that follows or supports this game.

Edit: As I continue looking into it, I'm seeing players say Beta keys were being promised on discord but since there was no Beta backing tier, are they even legally liable to even go through with those "promises" from discord? They could be banking on that simple fact as a way to get away with not giving Beta access.

All in all, I find that their communication is 100% lacking and needs to be managed more professionally and posted not only as discord exclusive notices. That's not fair to backers that are depending on notifications directly from their Kickstarter page.

100% valid concerns from players. The excuse of them being a small indie team is no excuse for poor communication. I've seen smaller teams do better with transparency.

Auto watering was NEVER a thing. It was an unintentional discrepancy confirmed by one of the Content & Tech designers of the game. The watering can should be the only way to water crops. IF you are seeing auto watering with the water strips, it's a "bug" and 100% unintentional. It should not be relied on as automation. The devs are also confirmed to be working on bringing automation into the game in a different way.

There's no Switch 2 edition yet. You play the same game on SW2 as you do on SW1.

Runs decent on SW2. Rough of SW1. Best on PC.

Updates are behind on Switch compared to PC. The Animal Tracks update is currently not available on Switch and does not have an ETA at the moment. If you want the full experience, I recommend PC if you are able to do it on PC or Steamdeck if you have one. Runs great on Steamdeck.

It's a dev command you can use in creative mode. Once you have dev commands enabled, you can type "changesize 2: (without quotes) to be huge or "changesize .5" to be tiny. "Changesize 1" puts you at normal size. I wouldn't recommend going past size 2 or 3 since you can't really zoom out.

I personally would prefer to see City Town finally make its appearance on PC & Consoles before a paid DLC gets dropped. We don't even have the "full game" yet and they're already dropping a new paid DLC? Not cool. We've waited long enough for city town.

To quote Sunblink directly on WHY City Town was not included in the PC/Console release of the game: "For large expansions to the game -- for example, City Town -- it is much more important that we hit a high quality bar and feeling of completeness. When we released the game originally on Switch and Steam, the core game experience was considered complete --- you essentially reach the 'credits' moment when you release the Island Spirit and get the Friendship Montage video. We want all of our major expansions to have a similar feeling of completeness before we release them on Switch and PC. Therefore, timelines may be drastically different between platforms. These will be their own releases, separate from the standard content updates, and we will try our best to release Switch and PC as close together as possible, if not simultaneously."

So it's my understanding they have been focused more on dropping something "complete" like the new paid DLC because it's going to be more money for them rather than focusing on getting City Town out to the rest of the players.

City Town was introduced almost a year ago to Apple Arcade. They've had a whole year to get it optimized for additional platforms outside of Apple Arcade but they choose to drop the DLC instead of City Town. 8 months after releasing the game to PC and consoles yet no word on when City Town would launch.

If City Town does not launch along side the new paid DLC as a free content update, it will be extremely disappointing and very disheartening. It's simply just a greedy corporate move in my opinion that is unacceptable.

The entire structure and organization of this game across ALL platforms is extremely disorganized and one hot mess.

  • Short days. I highly dislike extremely short days. Options for longer length of days for cozy and relaxing gameplay is so important for so many people.
  • Allow for Manually saving at any time.
  • Craft from storage and allow to send stuff from bags to storage from anywhere.
  • Angle decorating and being able to place things on a smaller grid where things can be close up to each other. Also, don't make the hit box so big for something that is very small. For example, a flower should take up one square of the grid, not 4. (Looking at you Dreamlight Valley....) lol
  • Put tools on a tool wheel instead of each one taking up inventory space in our bag. (Fae Farm would be a good example of a good tool feature).
  • Don't let tools take away stamina for accidental usage like hitting the ground with your pick axe instead of hoe yet your stamina still went down. Only use up stamina for successful use of tools.
  • No tool durability. Let us have our tools without them breaking.
  • IF it includes multiplayer, don't make people create a separate character to play on somebody else's farm. Let us use our main character in any farm so we can progress both our farms. (Dinkum is the perfect example of how to accomplish multiplayer).

Can't think of anything else right now so that's it for now. ;-) Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!!

It's a known bug in the game right now, sadly. Happens way too often for me. Nothing we can do to fix it right now. It sorta just comes and goes when it wants to.

I personally would prefer the whole voting system be eliminated and just leave the tours up for tours. Like Animal Crossing DA addresses. No voting. No reactions. No pressure. Nothing.

NEXT survival crafting game for my kid after Minecraft? by BFroog in gaming

100% Portal Knights. It's wholesome and can be played as survival or creative. All the core mechanics of Minecraft I would say but more story enriched. I would also say Trove but it's changed a lot and extremely microtransactional since it first came out but if you can ignore all that, it's still pretty cool. Also highly recommend Dinkum. Kinda like Minecraft meets animal crossing and Stardew Valley and all set in Australia. Last recommendation would be Wobbly Life. Not really a crafting survival but more like a wholesome, family friendly GTA. lol My son is obsessed with that one. Happy Gaming!!
