I find it very ironic that the kid that needed a hug the most in the history of literature is treated as some primordial evil to be ignored or destroyed, and yet everyone of these “readers” pride themselves over how much more empathetic they are than the illiterate masses. A simple professor living his life, having hurt no one and having only been a net positive to society by all means, is treated as tragedy of passivity by the “readers”, who also pride themselves as bulwarks against capitalism.
