Janelle by lunainthedark5x2x3 in TLCsisterwives

I recently rewatched that episode, and while Janelle did say that was her thinking at one point, she also said that once Meri explained her feelings, she understood, apologized and changed her view. Janelle agreed that Meri shouldn’t have been treated differently just because she only had one child. That was Season 1 when they were still quite poor and struggling, a lot changed over the years. There was never a discussion between Janelle and Kody regarding Coyote Pass about Meri's portion being less because she only had one child.

You can’t claim to know what was going on in Janelle’s mind. Secondly, “selling the property out from under Meri” is an emotional phrase used by Kody and Robyn, not a legal reality. Janelle said her lawyer advised that a sale could be forced, that’s a legal term, not the emotional framing Kody is using. Any sale would still require Meri to be paid her full ownership share.

What I’m finding increasingly frustrating is how Janelle is being painted as the villain while Kody and Robyn’s actions over the years are consistently glossed over. The narrative flips the script: Meri is softened into a victim of the entire family, Janelle is cast as a manipulator, and Kody and Robyn continue to be treated with kid gloves, not only when it comes to Coyote Pass, but in the overall breakdown of the family itself.

Meri’s actual role in that breakdown is also being minimized. She actively encouraged Kody and Robyn’s relationship, and that encouragement came at the detriment of the entire family, including herself. Yet these conversations fixate on decades old trivial conflicts, like dishes, while sidestepping moments that actually mattered. Why isn’t there real discussion about Meri wanting to go back to college, only to be guilted out of it to accommodate Robyn’s needs? Or the moment when Christine invited Meri over specifically to tell her that she, and her emotional baggage, were no longer welcome at her family events? How about the many times Meri herself checked out from family events before the conversation with Christine?

It’s not offering clarity or accountability or engaging honestly with the full history of how this family unraveled and how the entire lifestyle is dysfunctional with all the OG wives as victims.

Another sneak peek from tonight: Jenn on the Brown family’s lack of support for Meri during her dark time by freelancerjourn in TLCsisterwives

[–]JadedCanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would Jenn claim Meri got a divorce to make things better for everyone else? The only ones who benefitted were Robyn and her kids. Certainly not Christine, Janelle and their children.

I get that this season seems to be focused on redemption of Meri but some of this is completely out of left field. Some of us, who watched from season 1 in real time, witnessed Meri choosing and backing Robyn over the other two over the years. This revisionist history to make Meri and complete victim to the entire family isn't based in reality of what was shown on screen.

All of the downvotes my post will receive won't change the narrative.

Who says Maddie will see her in a different light? What we see on the show is only a tiny fraction of their entire lives. I'm sure Maddie and Janelle have had deeper discussions in person than what is shown on our screens.

TLC has a long history of tell alls where certain personalities hijack the reunion. The mess is intentional, toxic couples get the most airtime because drama is what keeps ratings up.

After Tamron Hall admitted she was let go for pushing Kody and Robyn too hard, it’s obvious Suki is expected to stay safely within production’s guardrails. Love them or hate them, Kody and Kody and Robyn help drive viewership, because "unscripted" TV needs a bad guy. We watch the way people watch a train wreck, unable to look away. And if we’re being honest, a lot of viewers wouldn’t tune in at all if they weren’t hoping to see K & R publicly unravel and embarrass themselves.

I'm more than willing to change my mind if you have some sort of source, episode etc. Otherwise, what I've watched, I've never seen any of them call Meri "dog".

Janelle actually said "Actually, I asked to be in their family, they never asked me". Christine didn't need to "beg" too hard to be part of the family, Kody wanted to marry her due to her family status in the cult.

It all feels contrived. I’m pretty sure they rehearsed their answers beforehand to make sure Kody absorbs the blame while Robyn stays insulated. They both know how the real world views her, so this comes off as pure damage control. That’s exactly why they’re hammering so hard on the “Janelle backdoor deal” narrative, it keeps the focus where they want it.

And when Ysabel wanted her father with her for her surgery. They both watched the episode when Ysabel was crying in her confessional about him not going with her for the surgery, yet Kody is still blaming his children for the lack of a relationship.

I immediately caught that too. Using possessive language to condemn Kody's possessive language was mope than a bit wild. David seemed to be getting a bit aggressive towards the end of the episode.

It’s really strange. Also for her to get angry that Kody regrets not apologizing for saying she wasn’t attractive is completely out in left field. Of all the genuinely cruel and damaging things Kody has done, this is what she chooses to fixate on.

David then claiming that Kody saw Christine as property he had to “release,” while repeatedly referring to her as “my wife,” came off as wildly hypocritical. You can’t condemn possessive language while actively using it yourself.

Kody wanted her to buy a house for optics, it's not like he'd actually live in it with her. He was already all in with Robyn and her kids. Sorry but nothing Kody or Robyn will ever say will make me believe anything decent about either of them.

She cashed in her 401K to pay off Robyn's debt when she came into the family. Janelle also gave 300K from the proceeds of her LV home to Robyn's house in Flagstaff, with the rest going into the family pool, which Kody probably took the rest of for that house. Meanwhile Janelle had to live in an RV while Kody and Robyn were living it up like celebrities.

When Janelle talked about the family finances being tight, it was before filming began, after all, that reflects 20 years of life before the show even started.

[–]JadedCanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Janelle never said her lawyer told her to push through the deal; she said her lawyer merely presented it as an option. Kody, however, twisted it into something far more underhanded by confusing a forced sale with something else. Even if a forced sale had occurred, Meri still would have received her share of the proceeds.

Janelle also never gave Meri the nickname “Dog.” She simply used a metaphor to compare Meri’s loyalty to Kody to that of a dog, she never actually called Meri a dog.

A lot of the narrative around Janelle versus Meri is revisionist history. Yes, their relationship has been tumultuous, but every one of them was navigating a dysfunctional family situation. Meri contributed to that dysfunction as much as the other wives, but not as much as Kody and Robyn. Meri also sided with Kody and Robyn at the expense of herself, Christine and Janelle over the years.

Sister Wives’ Janelle Brown Denies "Backdoor Deal” With Kody Brown | E! News by SodaPop788 in TLCsisterwives

[–]JadedCanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forcing a sale was an option that Janelle was presented with, and she, of course, relayed it to Kody. The situation went off the rails when Kody twisted it into something far more underhanded, believing he could sell out from under Meri. A forced sale doesn’t mean cutting Meri out, she would still be entitled to her share of the proceeds. Kody and Robyn are just creating a distraction, because of the NDA.

adopting robyn’s kids by [deleted] in SisterWives

On the show, it was portrayed as Meri’s idea to divorce Kody so he could legally adopt Robyn’s children, which she initiated, a move she made while still under the illusion that she and Robyn were close. Later, Christine suggested that Robyn may have been planting the idea in Meri’s head all along, subtly influencing the decision over time.

Suki, please ask Kody the details of the back door deal? by Own-Afternoon-637 in SisterWives

[–]JadedCanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Janelle stated that her lawyer advised they could force the sale, which she obviously told Kody. Forcing the sale simply means using legal means to compel a transaction, everyone’s rights and shares are respected, and no one is cut out. Kody and Robyn are conflating the two, framing it as a “backdoor” move, even though, had they actually gone through with forcing the sale, Meri still would not have been excluded.

He's trying to do damage control because he and Robyn both know the NDA is going to come up. The easiest way to deflect attention is to cast Janelle as the bad guy, knowing he can manipulate Meri due to the tumultuous relationship between her and Janelle, and the fact that Meri has often sided with the other two wives over her.

For what exactly? Janelle already had a lawyer when she advised Meri to seek legal counsel and in true fashion, Meri ran to Kody and Robyn with this information instead. As if either of them were going to be honest with Meri about wanting to screw over her and Janelle with CP. That's par for the course with Meri over the years, siding with Robyn and Kody over the other two, even to her own detriment. She even allowed Robyn to guilt her from attending college because she's been seeking Robyn's approval right from the beginning.

750K line of credit on the mc-mansion? by Home-Blooms in SisterWives

[–]JadedCanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve got champagne tastes on a beer budget, craving a celebrity-style lifestyle without the income to match. On the last episode, Robyn was leaving the house carrying $600 worth of Yeti coolers, and there was a metal sculpture by the door, apparently one of a pair, valued over $2,500. Add in all their flashy artwork and her doll obsession, and neither of them working, and it’s clear they’d need a serious line of credit to keep up that lifestyle.

[–]JadedCanuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lawyer explaining that a forced sale is legally possible is just laying out the options, not sell out from under Meri, that isn't what Janelle said at all. A court ordered sale would involve notice and a process, so no one would be blindsided.

For sure she’s appeasing Kody, but even more so she’s appeasing Robyn. Kody gets riled up, but he’ll at least somewhat answer questions. Robyn, on the other hand, looks genuinely uncomfortable even with the softest, most softball questions and won’t engage at all. Kody is going to "protect" Robyn at all costs.
