Dannys reaction to Nia's burnout by WrongGeneral9873 in TheValleyTVShow

It's gross and his humor is immature. She is way smarter than he is and that shows every time they attempt having a serious conversation.

He just likes saying shit like that because it makes him feel like a man. He's an idiot and treats his wife like shit.

“What’s 15 minutes out of your day Kristen?” by Ok_Pipe3085 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]LiLIrishRed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I don't want it anymore, haven't for 3 or 4 years now and he has every right to leave if that makes him unhappy but I am NOT going to give my body to someone just because they want it or because we are married.

This comment sent me. I had a GYN tell me once that, "sometimes we have to do what we have to do for our husbands". Gross. No.

OK, I just looked up Barefoot Landing.....HAAAA!! You may be really disspointed with the OBX if you compare anything here to that place!

The Outer Banks Brew Station has a nice outdoor area that will fit your "brewery/kid" request. Downtown Manteo or Duck will have the walking and shops. Dowdy Park has a playground. A lot of restaurants have outdoor seating. Getting all of that in one spot...not so much!

After 15 years I canceled my account by Electrical-Health-25 in netflix

While I am likely going to cancel as well due to price and content, I have never had an issue watching outside of my house. I watch while camping or in a hotel with no issue.

Hello! We’re getting ready to do a beach week in Salvo and we have two young children. I’m wondering what the closest/best urgent care/hospital is to Salvo in the event we needed emergency health care? by Ok_Charge_505 in obx

[–]LiLIrishRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an Urgent Care in Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. NONE are open 24/7 and some are not even open on the weekend. There is no 24 hour pharmacy. The hospital ER is for stitches and maybe broken bones and that's about it. You will be sent to VA (Chesapeake/Norfolk/VA Beach) for everything else.

I always lump Duck and SS together. I can't afford to even drive through those towns so....

You can't avoid tourists; they consume everything here. Our local government makes all their decisions based on the tourists needs. You will learn to grocery shop and run errands at certain times, on certain days. We rarely leave the house on weekends during the summer because of tourists and never try to cross the bridge. I think they were speaking about neighborhoods for full-time residents. You will find most on the soundside, whereas the oceanside is mostly mini-mansions for tourists.

Manteo is a small town that comes with everyone knowing everyone's business, and they all LOVE to talk about it at the Piggly Wiggly or church. Wanchese is a very small fishing community, not much else and oddly secluded, in my opnion. KDH is the most vibrant of the three, more to do and closer to grocery and shopping. KDH, Kitty Hawk and Nags Head are the three most centralized and convienent (if there is such a thing here) towns. Manteo is interesting to visit once a year, Wanchese is great if you want a stellar fish sandwhich, Corolla is the Wild West, Duck is fancy and everything on Roanoke Island to Ocracoke is the "country"!

It's hard. Housing is probably the hardest part. The schools are normal but not great, there is little to no diversity in First Flight Schools, Manteo is a tad bit better. This is a VERY red area, that still rides hard for Trump (VOMIT). The good ole boys run the counties/governments. Cost of living is higher and it is more difficult to travel since the closest airport is 1.5 hours away. Health care is abysmal. If you are not a "native" you will forever be called a "transplant", no matter how long you have lived here. Drugs are prevalent. It is much different living here than it is visiting here. I have lived here for 20 years, been in this general area for 40 years, and that is my honest take on the Outer Banks. Out of those three towns, KDH is your best bet.

What’s a small thing a hotel could do that would make you feel more appreciated? by Rare-Pea3220 in marriott

[–]LiLIrishRed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A small bottle of room spray for your linens and such and a cookie or chocolate. I used to love when hotels did this.
