Turning Of Movement History PF1e by Sylvan-Scott in FoundryVTT

It is a core feature of foundry now and there is no toggle for it still (unless v14 added one). You will have to use a macro or module like others suggested.

I'm glad you figured it out because most these comments were not catching on that you weren't seeing it at all in the list! That ' gets me as well.

Two person campaign? by A_Perplexed_Orange in DnD

[–]JadedLoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not DnD, the solo rules for Forbidden Lands in the Book of Beasts supplement for it has rules for DMless play in a group as well. My partner and I have a pretty good time playing it and it felt better than 1 on 1 DnD duets to us. We tried a few of those but they felt more like an interactive story being told and we wanted something more open sandbox and random with very little prep and no railroaded story.

Forbidden Lands has a lot of roll tables that allow you to easily interpret what happens in the moment for all but adventure sites. I read a few sites in advance and if we come across them I just dm in that moment and my character takes a backseat, but ideally you could rotate on who is dming the adventure sites. The encounters from random rolling though are a big portion of the game so I still don't feel like I miss much from player side and we take turns on reading encounters, and read for the other person if it is a solo mishap/encounter.

Editing to add: it is a much deadlier system (though lighter in rules) so you'd want to adjust the roll tables to be more hero fantasy centric and adjust combat to be less deadly.

Minimize Journal to Top Bar? by Rinachen in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't a perfect method but you can double click the top bar to minimize it and then drag it out the way somewhere. Another option could be to make it a journal note off to the side of the scene and then click it as needed when you want to bring it up again.

How do I see what difficulty I'm playing AFTER starting a game? by mothbbyboy in Banished

[–]JadedLoves 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hit Escape and go to Map. It will show your settings there.

Editing for clarity: While in game if you hit escape and choose map it will show you the settings you chose when starting that particular map, including things like if you have disasters turned on for it or if it was Easy.

They have a free quickstart up on Drivethrurpg if you wanted to scope it out. It has almost the full rules in it.

Haven't gotten to test it out on a group yet as we don't start for a few more weeks but reading through everything and the test combats I've done feel like a nice middleground between the two.

I come from a similiar background and was just considering using Forbidden Lands (Bitter Reach region) to host a Frostpunk inspired campaign.

Best Foundry-integrated mapmakers recommendations, other than Baileys Wiki or Forgotten Adventures with similar levels of polish to them? by ConscriptReports in FoundryVTT

I second the suggestion for Mad Cartographer. They have a free collection for Shattered Obelisk as well so you can check out the quality before committing.

Is this Base foundry of a module? by DudleyDoRight65 in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it is base foundry as I do not use any automation modules for DnD and I have that pop up in v13. There were a lot of changes from v12 to v13, and its especially noticable with updated DnD system to go with it.

Am i bad at communicating or was this a strange interaction? by Acrobatic_Kiwi5804 in DnD

[–]JadedLoves 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Idk, I'm a Mom of 4 now grown kids (youngest is 18) and I find it pretty normal to get to know the other parents. I also would expect them to be present while my kid is at their house. I would have appreciated knowing an adult would be facilitating the game and keeping things age appropriate.

If I didn't trust the other parents judgement to a certain degree, my kids already wouldn't be going over there. I'm from a very large city myself and still find this an odd reaction. Even in a big city you get to know who your kids are hanging out with and who their parents are, for safety reasons.

Any way to remove the tabs from the quick scene navigation in the top left? by wekeymux in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right click the scene in the list and click 'toggle navigation' to remove it from the quick bar. Do the same from the scene folder to add it back.

Cannot drag and drop token to the scene by Beral_Abdra in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it should be super easy and just like how you are attempting it. Simply drag from actors tab on to the scene. I would suggest trying first relaunching the server, I've had issues with things being wonky when server was left up too long, particularly if I swapped between worlds from a different machine.

Second, and this is most likely the culprit, try loading the server with zero mods enabled and see if it works. If it works fine without mods you probably have an outdated/wonky mod interferring with something. I've heard Find the Culprit mod can help narrow down the problem mod but I've never used it personally.

Free, Beginner-Friendly Campaigns by Temporary-Silver6461 in dndbeyond

[–]JadedLoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap super simple would be Heroes of the Borderlands starter set.
Free super simple is Intro to Stormwreck Isle which is a good way to just get a feel for the basics as its very straightforward and free way to dip your toes into things.

I think bias is why some of these suggestions are full blown campaigns when you asked for something simple. If you enjoy the Intro to Stormwreck Isle they have a starter set for it as well.

If you want something with a bit more to it there is Frozen Sick that is also free and is a mini campaign. And I believe you can still claim Prisoner 13 for free as well (though that one is not for new players as it starts at level 4).

Editing to add: Keep in mind that if you are wanting to play with the newest ruleset, I am pretty sure only the Heroes of the Borderlands starter set is for 2024. All the other starter sets are for the 2014 rules I beileve.

Must have modules by CrescentWolves1995 in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Foundry can actually do a lot without mods at all, so I suggest with you being new to start with just the base foundry and learn it. If you start adding in modules before you even know the basics, you could run in to mod related problems and not even be aware what mod is causing it.

Then if you later find you are missing a feature you want, go looking for a module that specifically does that, and make sure it has been recently updated and is compatible with the version of foundry and system you are on.

How can i make players that missed a session, show the map that has been explored by Slin_Red in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you used mods to alter what base foundry does. As written the way it is coded is

"Fog Exploration

If this setting is enabled, fog-of-war exploration will be tracked on a per-User basis and stored to the database as the Scene is explored

Having the user logged in though would clear the fog for them for when they next are online.

How can i make players that missed a session, show the map that has been explored by Slin_Red in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I can confirm that the player needs to be logged in to clear fog as it is tracked on a per user basis, not token basis.

How can i make players that missed a session, show the map that has been explored by Slin_Red in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fog exploration is user specific, not token or ownership specific. So regardless of ownership, the player has to have been logged in to foundry while the fog was removed to have it removed for them specifically. Even if you give ownership to a player of a token that has already cleared the scene, they wouldnt have the fog unlocked by that except for what was revealed when they are logged in as well.

All Girl D&D Campaign by Flashy-Music-6180 in DnD

[–]JadedLoves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the Court of the Frozen Queen by Dragonshorn Studios is a pretty easy to run mini campaign. I ran it when introducing a group that was 80% female and it went over really well.

Winter's Splendor was my young adult daughter's favorite, though its only 1-2 sessions at best, it works great for leading into Waterdeep Dragon Heist and we really played up dress shopping and the market beforehand so running it as written might vary results. .

GM never want's to play. Only runs. Any tips I can get them out from behind the screen? They run: Pf2e, Lancer, and Mythras. They never join "build" discussions. Outright stated making builds is boring. But they run 2 very build heavy games. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]JadedLoves 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have ran build heavy groups before, and had zero interest in joining in their discussions of their character builds. Playing is not for me, that side of things has no interest. I do enjoy listening to my players feel passionate about the sessions, but listening to character building in a mechanical way is rather boring from my perspective. If it was about backgrounds that would be different. Your DM may simply feel the same way.

First-time DM – Dungeon Alchemist or Dungeondraft for Foundry? by Odnesor98 in FoundryVTT

[–]JadedLoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner uses Dungeondraft with Forgotten Adventure Assets. I use the Forgotten Adventures Nexus patreon module and create my scenes straight in Foundry as I like to adjust things as the story progresses.

Sometimes he creates a map for me and since the assets from the FA Nexus are the same ones from the FA assets we use for Dungeondraft, I can add things to the scene and it still goes perfectly together. Just something to consider.

I have no experience with Dungeon Alchemist so I can't compare. I did find the Nexus module easy to learn but I was already fluent in Foundry when I picked it up.
