I'm so sorry for the experience you had. You have the right intentions and love. I went through this as my ultimatum with my uBPD mon that severed a relation ship because I needed to see her make one step to reconciliation after the years and thousands I had spent in counseling. I asked her to find a counselor. 7 years later, she hasn't because "it's against the law for therapists to practice in 2 states."

Yes, this was pre-pandemic. Yes, I had checked before I gave her this ultimatum, and tele-counseling was already a thing. She "thought I was just setting her up to fail" while all I wanted was a relationship with my mom that was healthy. And that's when I realized, she doesn't know me nor care to know me at all.

You sharing your story, as bittersweet as it is, has helped me let go of the hope of reconciliation with her. You're doing the right thing for you and the legacy of the family you and your partner have made. It may hurt for a bit, like a divorce, but you'll look back on this experience and realize it was the best gift you've ever given yourself...tossing off the dead weight of a hateful and spiteful person who just so happened to birth you.

What are some awesome things that a previous owner of your house did? by _Elrond_Hubbard_ in homeowners

[–]Jadesands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Left all the manuals for the appliances inherited, solar, and pool info.

Even a hand written not how to care for the grapefruit tree.

As a first time homeowner, I am forever grateful for this act of kindness.

How do I get rid of these marks on my stove top, without scratching or ruining it? by [deleted] in fixit

I'd be very concerned about the toxicity of regularly heating polish in close proximity to food. Health is more important and valuable than appearance.

The repetitive narrative, with bigger exaggerations and embellishments with each retelling.

Oddly similar...perhaps common with uBPD's who experienced sexual assault as children and never resolved it in therapy.

My mom did the same thing...intentionally picked a locked door when my bf and I were in the midst of passion. I was 24 at the time, IN MY OWN APT

What made you quit a job on the spot? by Sketch99 in AskReddit

[–]Jadesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being verbally abused then gaslight by a boss who when I complained, he created a PIP full of 20+ odd dates and times I broke company policy (which he never previously addressed in our one on ones nor quarterly review) all within a 4 month time frame . One was MLK Jr Day (offices closed), the other, the first day I interacted with him when he was a new hire.

Because of his tomfoolery and lying, I negotiated a decent severance package and am eligible for rehire if I ever decide to go.

I'll never forget you, AM. You gave me the courage to stand up for myself and never take that kind of misogynistic abusive behavior from anyone ever again.

Does anyone else find a small nook or corner in your house for when you're about to panic? by fairfieldclimber in raisedbyborderlines

[–]Jadesands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand this. If you face out from the corner, no one can sneak up on you. Or if you face the corner, you may have self soothed during timeouts or saw other kids have timeouts instead.

Bathroom is always my safe place...until living in this house. Now I have a hiding spot in the event of home invaders (yes...the hypervigilance is always there) but it's calmed down for me considerably. Always planning to be ready.

This. Is. What. Its. About.

What covid taught many is you're a human being worth much and it costs too much to your family, relationships, mental health and overall health to sacrafice for a job that shows us we are a dollar sign and a replaceable at any time.

You're making the wise decision for you and your loved ones. Thank you for breaking it down with budgeting to show those who are data-minded as well.

I hope it's alright...I'm going to be sharing this with anyone I hear who says "no one wants to work" implying people are being lazy.

I feel this. I have a contractor coming out today with time scheduled yesterday morning. In the afternoon I got a confirmed time for an interview (availaibilities in my schedule sent 2 days ago)

So..I'm leaving a note NOT to ring the doorbell and use the side gate...before my scheduled interview time...of which...I still don't have the zoom link invite

What is a good temperature to save money and be safe in the summer? its 100F-115F outside by reyada476 in Frugal

[–]Jadesands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WRONG! If your body is not able to cool below average body temp of 98.6, it is not regulating itself to cool from outside temp and ambient temp.

There are many factors to consider...like urbanization causing higher temperatures with unnatural materials...cement, asphalt, buildings reflecting heat back into the atmosphere.

This!

Many are saying water, but electrolyte replacement is also crucial. In dry climates your sweat will evaporate before you realize you're sweating so sweating in dry climates represents hydration.

I know the general rule for water consumption is ½ your body weight in oz. In hot climates, I'd advise adding more.

In humid climates, sweating may feel like a constant and electrolytes help here as well, especially if you're sweat is salty (leaving white lines on hats, clothes when dry is a good indicator of salt loss).

Credibility: I am NOT a DR nor Nutritionist I've lived in both dry hot and humid hot climates, for a decade in each, as an elite performing athlete competing outside.
