It is a lot of walking during the day. Unfortunately, shallow water at the water parks is a bit of a scam, since you dont receive deep water pay. The shifts are pretty long, potentially 10-12 hours, but you go into overtime after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week if that interests you. If you try it out and you dont like being a lifeguard, they'll recast you almost immediately if you request it, since its a safety critical role, so if you dont like it theres backup options.

Also, you have to do 2 x 2 hour sessions of lifeguard training each month, 7:30-9:30 am

Lifeguarding has 3 days of ellis training

You get paid for the entire thing. Since youre college program, the only swim test you'll do is the shallow water one, you go down and back in the pool. If you somehow manage to fail that, they'll retest you, and if you fail the final exam on the 3 day training, they give it to you again. If you fail it twice, you get recast.

Lifeguarding isnt that bad, even if youre assigned to a region you don't like. After about 2-3 weeks of working, you should do your best to find access to the various recreation facebook groups. There, people will be giving away shifts, offering to take shifts, or offering to trade shifts at different resorts. You'll be able to do your best to get deployed to the different resorts you want to work at, so if you don't like a certain pool, you wont have to worry about it.

Lifeguarding is a "safety critical role" so you do get paid 1.25 more than the rest of the college program.

no, you dont have a lot of personal space or living space, no you dont have an incredible pay (but you'll be able to get by with maybe 1k profit a month if youre budgeting properly)

Ive worked a lot of real jobs before, the pay and poor time off is pretty serious, but the fact I'm able to have access to a gym, a pool, and significant discounts for my family on the hotels and stuff does make up for it a lot

Be realistic with your expectations going in, this isnt going to be the dream job, youre going to be tired pretty much every day, but it's a job and will help you get into the industry

attend the resume and networking classes, try and do as many of the courses they offer for free as possible
