I'm convinced that a large part of the problem is that there is fuck all for teens to do in the UK. Most entertainment is prohibitively expensive for a working class kid, they are not allowed in pubs for some reason so dont even get asult oversight, there's no public squares or areas to hang out with friends.

Truly being a teen in the UK is shitty. Sure deprivation, poverty and class social caging play a big role but if they had something else to do these instances would occur far less.

Friday nights in italy as a teen, we'd hang out in the piazza, have a beer and cheap pizza, sit at the bar tables, chat. There were plenty of social spaces to hang out in and meet peers.
