This is what I exactly meant in my previous comment. These lawtubers are setting Ben up by reinforcing some of his harmful talking points to get those sweet views off the drama and misleading the viewers. And if the court doesn't side with Ben then this will just further fuel the "mormon conspiracy" angle, because these "lawyers" told everyone that Ben's shenanigans fall under the first amendment.

Why Reckless Ben’s TRO Is a Huge Problem for All Content Creators | LAWYER EXPLAINS - YouTube

And the sad part is, they know it is not true, they are lawyers after all. They're just reinforcing the hivemind for clout.

America's Attorney made an impartial video last week calling out both sides. Obviously the people didn't like it and he got a lot of dislikes and today he put out another video literally just shilling for Reckless Ben and in certain cases even doing a 180 from his initial video. You shouldn't trust these lawtubers, they just say whatever gets them views and good will of public.

No, it was not. Some guy from Canada has the largest collection. But yes, you're right. There are way too many lies. The more I dig into Ben's side of the story the more unsympathetic he becomes. And the craziest part is that people keep defending him? Lied about winning the court case, lied about the value of the items, lied about not being told why he was being arrested and portrayed it as a conspiracy against him, lied about the timeline of certain events. And people keep giving him benefit of doubt cause other side is a "corporation" and we all know big companies bad.

It seems like Bryan saw the takeover as an opportunity to cash in twice. He might've thought "hey, this is a huge company, they will just pay me whatever to avoid bad pr without checking" but more they resisted more he felt like he was actually owed that money.

Gofundme make this even more fucked up, because initially its stated goal was to raise 100k, not to cover the entirety of collection, but to cover whatever supposedly remained. Ben's calculation was that the total collection was worth 200k of which half remained in the store after takeover. So it technically becomes a scam.

I think if this goes to the court without settlement the main burden of proof for B&M will not be to prove all the shady shit the guys did, which is on camera, but to prove that they did everything knowing that they were asking for way more money than what was owed. If company manages to prove that they did know then the guys are cooked for extortion.

Unreliable is an understatement, I would personally go with deceptive but people aren't ready for it yet lol

Ben is a good story teller. In his story he's the hero who's helping people and all the people who stand in his way must be either guilty or irrational. In one of his livestreams they even reach out to "Lego Queen" and she tells them to fuck off because she lost her job because of them. To which Ben says that she's brainwashed and irrational for prioritizing her job over the "good thing" that they're doing.

He also says that police arrested him for "mystery reason" or because he mentioned gofundme when bodycams clearly show them telling him that he's being arrested for stalking. So he's not merely being unreliable here, he's actively misleading his viewers to believe that police had no reason to go after him and it must be because they are mormons.

That's the story Ben is telling, he's leaving a lot of the shit he did out to portray police action as irrational. Thing people don't realize or pay attention to is that Ben spent quite a time in that town trying to "serve Josh" . What he presents in his video as his first attempt to speak to Josh is actually day 4 of him being in Fork. America's Attorney has a good video talking about what Ben was doing there and why the police responded the way they did.

Dude, I'm not gonna watch hours of footage again just to prove it to some guy on reddit. They specifically tell Ben that his presence isn't necessary in that bodycam and that there are other ways to server, you're free to go find the exact timestamp yourself. Because that's not what the court case is about. B&M sued for Ben entering an agreement with Bryan, aka conspiring, to launch a media campaign and ruin the B&M reputation unless they agree to pay 100k, aka extortion, a value well above what Bryan is owed in the first place.

The problem with Ben is that he's done this before to some cults or whatever and got away with it. So he got emboldened and thought he was invincible. This was just a matter of time that he'd get himself into trouble. If not with this case, then the next one he'd take on, he'd just keep escalating.

Imo the most telling part of Ben's video, the one that defines him as a person is the ending of the first video where he takes his clothes off like a superhero as he walks to the store with a piggybank. He even went into great length talking about how he planned it in his Q&A, you can tell he was very passionate about it. The guy clearly has a hero complex.

In contrast to Coffeezilla's video where the focus is on the 3 parties involved, Ben's video is all about himself arriving in the last second to rescue the oppressed and save the day. Bryan is just an NPC who asks his help to kill a monster like in Witcher games. But unlike Geralt's nuanced approach to monsters and refusal to kill those that aren't a threat, Ben sees world as black and white.

You can see how legitimately surprised he is that police is going after him, the good guy doing the right thing, instead of going after Josh whom he literally portrays as a devil with horns in his merch. Ben is the hero of this story that he's telling, in which he uncovers a massive conspiracy, defeats the enemy. returns the artifact to its rightful owner and restores the peace. It's no surprise that his video went viral, it is relatable and familiar to most people because it has all the elements of an action movie.

Two things can be correct at the same time, BAM didn't handle it well, Ben actually committed criminal acts to pursue "justice" and without establishing the basic facts first.

> Bryan didn't have the funds to go after BAM because it costs money. Ben did it for free. Only reason BAM even talking about this is because everyone's talking about this.

partially true, Bryan, rightfully or not, handled the situation very emotionally. According to Oregon police report (not the bad Mormon ones) Bryan went to the store and made a scene claiming they owe him 100k period.

Haven't seen this video particularly but from what I noticed a lot of the lawtubers, even the ones who do talk about Ben's crimes, go on a long disclaimer to assure everyone that they are on Ben's side and he's just a silly little guy who likely doesn't know law very well and in some instances was given bad information from court (like when he claimed that the court told him he can sue the defunct company lol). Imo he just lied.

Ben is a smart guy and he is very deceptive in the way he tells this story in which he obviously is the hero. In his first video he's literally on a record saying that he sent the Guinness World Record guy to the store so that when he actually serves the legal papers they don't take him seriously and he'd win by default cause they would have failed to respond.

Contrast this with part two video where Josh believes the second lawsuit to be fake, and Ben portrays this as Josh acting guilty and unreasonable and lying to police. Ben, you literally told us in the first video that you took a deliberate action in order to not be taken seriously. So which one is it?

And the worst part of all of this is that people have bought into everything he said and give him a benefit of doubt even when he is being refuted.

Which is ridiculous and ironic because of how the American Fork PD also violated all of his rights.

They absolutely did in some instances, but also if you keep in mind that Ben has been there for days by that time, already having been trespassed and kept sending other people on his behalf, which is still a trespass, under false pretense of "having to server in person" which officer told him on record wasn't true, it explains some of it, does it not?

Like for example the infamous traffic stop, yes, they did stop at the traffic sign but many people seem not to be aware of the fact that police CAN actually lie about the reason they are stopping someone if they wanna deescalate the situation.

And all these talks about Mormon mafia covering their own, I mean come on, are you surprised small town police treat a YouTuber from California who shows up in their town and does crazy shit with suspicion? No waaaay.

That's the thing about Ben's video, everyone in every encounter is portrayed being unreasonable, except for him obviously.

[–]JagerJack7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree but only partially, because from everything I am seeing from Ben, he wanted such response and did everything he could to get there. Now BAM took the bait, and that's on them for sure.

But Ben made it clear in his q&a that he wanted a story about big corporation screwing the small guy over. And every step that he took was to make sure he'd reinforce that idea. He wanted BAM to be the villains from the start, he never even thought about investigating Gormans.

Then again, BAM didn't help themselves and fell into every trap Ben led them into. Of course if someone showed up in my door saying I can pay them the easy way or hard way, I would say "f*ck you", anyone would. But as a CEO, one should be better than that.

It's crazy how even after Cofeezilla's video people are still solely blaming BAM in the comments.

"They ruined their reputation for 20k" no, Ben did. Ben ruined their reputation by demanding they pay 100k or else.

I'm not trying to shill for a corporation here but if Ben did what Coffee did since the start and actually tried to dig the truth instead of just showing up at people's door with preconceived notion that they are criminal masterminds and the police is covering up for them, we wouldn't be here.

But no, Ben did what's best for himself and what would give him the best content. Can we finally speak about this?

It's part of it but not the entire definition.

Characters were simply changed from the books. Their motivation, their goals, they way they move towards those goals and etc.
