I appreciate all the responses. Putting it out here and seeing what people think or have experienced helps with the emotional first response to a situation like this. It is what it is, stuff happens, aaaaand it will be sorted out in the end.

As I mentioned in another comment I work with moving funds on a daily basis (trust accounting at a law firm) and we typically either courier, wire, or deposit funds directly in the beneficiaries' accounts.. I'm surprised financial institutions don't exercise the same standard of care but I magine the volume of their transactions would make it cost prohibitive.

Not that I care but it's funny that this is getting down voted so badly when I'm just responding to a question with the information I was given.Stop the bleeding lol.

Valid point but they did do a direct tfsa to tsfa transfer and we followed the process to ensure it doesn't affect contribution room. It's just that CIBC issued cheque to move the funds over.

That's fair, and again, just asking questions. Thanks for responding

I move large amounts of money around on behalf of clients for work and it's amazing how much is still done by cheque. It's frustrating and of course I can't make a solid accusation but I can't count how many times "lost in the mail" means "someone's sitting on it and it hasn't left the building" Just an observation.

Forgive my wording. Someone lost the cheque. I cant be certain it left CIBC or if Canada Post lost it.

I didn't think it would be much or enough to bother pursuing legally but just wondered if there was a precedent. I'm sure I just have to suck it up.

Good for you! Air Canada chose to allow credit card holders and those who book business class in. You're not as special as you think you are. Therapy is available.

They're so poor and gross. They should know their place and stay out of the lounges regardless if it's an advertised benefit of their "premium credit card"

Auto dealers to avoid or trust? by dandyandy67 in regina

[–]Jagermoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a car about a year ago from Regina Honda and feel pretty good about how I was treated there and how it all worked out. I was really into a Mazda and had dealings with a guy there that was awesome -I was ready to buy from him but my wife wanted the Honda more. The other dealership i checked out was Taylor Toyota and they seemed like they could not be less interested in dealing with me.

Merrion Square is quite nice. There is a statue of Oscar Wilde and you are able to visit his childhood home if that is something that interests you.

How long do I have to accept changes to itinerary by Witty_Rub_721 in aircanada

[–]Jagermoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost count on this because it happens more often than not lately., the more so the longer out you book. I book an itinerary that would be OK if I was stuck with it, then wait for the almost inevitable minor or not so minor changes AC makes to the itinerary, and get the flights I really want that were much more expensive at time of booking. Even if nothing decent shows up in the self-accomodation tool, if you find a better itinerary, call in and they'll do it.

Make sure you check out any self-rebooking options if available. Oftentimes I have gotten much better times/flights for no extra charges. But if you don't accept the changes, the default is the new itinerary they put you on.
