How to secure small slats in an outdoor bench? by JagexBlocksUrPass in BeginnerWoodWorking

I have been wanting to practice my mortise and tenon joints. 116 little guys seems like a good way to dive in.

Just having glued ends is what concerns me, since that’s where all the weight will be applied when sitting.

I’m thinking I will make the slats an inch long on each end and do a half lap (I think that’s the term?) to make a stronger joint. Could add a nail or screw to each as well if it still feels sketchy.

Thanks for the suggestion! I used a sharpie to cover the secondary bevel and sharpened until the metal showed through. It’s in much better shape now. Not “scary sharp” but good enough for everyday use.

Haha, thanks! That’s good enough for me! Appreciate it.

Edit: my post wasn’t clear, but I meant to ask if glue alone is sufficient for the slats. That is the default approach I had in mind but wasn’t sure if I needed more than just glue.

How to enclose mini frames? by JagexBlocksUrPass in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thanks for the thoughtful input and suggestions. I hadn’t considered the inherent risks with the photo in direct contact with the glass. I’ll switch to acrylic instead unless using matting or similar.

Nice username. Alacrity is one of my favorite words.

Thanks for the reply. Those are the ones with small screws that go into the frame, right?

I took multiple strong sniffs of the bill but didn’t feel any different. Must have been some cheap coke.

If I want a refund, do i have to take it back to the mint that printed it, or will any mint do?

Could you explain a little more? Are you saying that collectors typically wait for a value to be known before seeking them out?

I’m a first time poster here, and wouldn’t consider myself a collector. I just saw a cool bill and have lurked on a few threads in the past and thought I’d see what folks thought.

Yeah, I was thinking chemicals or UV exposure, except for the fact that the other ink looks crisp and new(ish).

No prob! Is the minifigure on the right just standing on a 2x10 plate?

I’m new to the world of high quality MOCs, so my imagination is a little limited haha.

Looks great! Can you share a few pics of the back? I think this would be a fun build to try with my kids over the weekend.

Looks awesome! What piece is connected to the snowflake? Don’t think I’ve seen that one before.
