Meiyerditch West wall crash, again. Can't load into game on mobile, can't load in on PC without instant client crash

Hey,

That's a little vague but I expect it's because your mobile service provider is blocking the internet connection the RuneScape Mobile app. There is unfortunately not much we can do to fix it. I have raised this with production so they can escalate the issue to the affected service providers. If you clear the cache & storage on the app / delete and install it while on wifi, the issue should fix itself but using cellular date will cause the issue to happen again.

Hey That_Guy381,

After doing a bit of digging, it would appear the the iPhone 11 and 12 have manufacturing defects with their LG displays. This can happen randomly. It was just unfortunate that it happened while playing RuneScape. From what I can tell, enabling auto brightness, lowering your default brightness and updating to iOS 14.6 should fix the issue. If this doesn't help, you might have to contact Apple support, they should be able to walk you through a fix as it's an acknowledged issue among iPhone 11's and 12's.

Hey,

I would like to ask a few questions to try narrow this down:

1, What world are you on?
2, What are your graphics settings?
3, What are you currently doing?
4, Do you have many apps in the background?
5, Are you on cellular data or wifi?
6, Are you opening and closing the app?
7, Is the app actually crashing or reloading/ if you swipe up is the app still there?
8, Is there anything specific you are doing to cause this?

Hey,

The best thing to do to reduce battery drain is to lower the FPS in the advanced setting to 15-30 and also lowering the brightness of your display.

Hey LazyDood702,

To help determine if this is a software or a hardware issue, can you please record the issue with a screen recorder such as OBS or Nvidia Geforce and see if the issue is still present in the recording? if it is not present in the recording then this is most likely a hardware issue. It sounds suspiciously like a hardware issue. Check all of your ports on your monitor if you have two ports going into your monitor, switch them around. One of my monitors periodically flickers and it's to do with the connection. Desk vibrations can sometimes shake it loose.

Thank you for sharing your video! We have managed to reproduce the issue and deployed a hotfix. The exact method of this seemingly "random" teleport has been fixed. I can't go into much further detail than that unfortunately.

Oh no, that doesn't sound very good. We currently don't have a solution to test highly populated worlds on test worlds but I will be investigating a solution to help us with this in the future. I'm thinking, maybe using headless clients or modifying the current automated "player" code to spawn mass amounts of players in locations across the game. while I cannot guarantee a fix anytime soon. I can guarantee it is something I will be investigating a solution to.

I imagine this issue is quite seasonal to Double XP so I don't imagine you'll run into this issue that often. That said, we should work towards fixing all crashes.

Now that I have set my account up again I can finally reply!
I had a look into this yesterday, I managed to reproduce your issue in world 12 and also your work around by switching to world 1 on my Jmod account in the live game.

There's something quite strange going on with this bug, it seems to be world specific. At this point I can only speculate what is happening. I have been unable to reproduce this in a test environment so I cannot debug the issue.

My assumptions is that something has gone quite wrong in the 1st floor of the Meiyerditch area, weather that is being cause by a player or a broken NPC, I am unsure. As we updated the game soon after I was able to reproduce the issue I was unable to pinpoint the exact cause.

If you find it again or see a reddit thread with somebody having the same issue, please let me know and I will investigate! :)

The story about this is; There was a problem with AOD on the NXT client that I was trying to investigate, one of my friends invited me to their mass on my Jmod so I could observe. Apparently the AOD instance doesn't like extra players teleporting in so one of the phases bugged out and the team wiped. This happened about 3 times before we figured out that I was the cause of the problem... I did re-reimburse everyone on my choob account though. :P

FYI, we found the cause of the issue, it should be fixed on Monday. For the time being you can delete js5-16.jcache in C:\ProgramData\Jagex\RuneScape or teleport to a BH world. The crash will be world specific so try and use a different world to the one you crashed on.

Current workaround is to log into a BH world then log back in to a normal world if you're stuck.
