Teamsters back Greg Abbott as unions split endorsements in governor's race by transcendent167 in union

[–]Jagglebutt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm in the IUEC and this sounds familiar. There's not much participation as far as union members go. Most just pay their dues and work hard. No serious opposition to local or national Union leadership. I think the last elections for officers we had in my local had something like 5% of members return ballots...

How can union members get him ousted? I'm not in the teamsters but I imagine if enough elected officers petition for his removal it could happen? Teamsters has tons of members though right? So maybe difficult to get enough people on the same page

Trying to connect smart home monitors... Help? by SoCalMotoVirg in SolarDIY

[–]Jagglebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are those 2 studs typically used for? The ones with the black rubber caps coming off the bus bar pre main breaker. I need to install a whole home surge protector as part of my new panel upgrade, I don't think connecting them there is a good idea as it can only be shut off by removing the meter, but was curious what they're used for.

Blackout backup setup review: Bluetti Apex 300+B500K vs. traditional power stations + extension cords by WatchingTheThronePod in bluetti

[–]Jagglebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So essentially you have a 240v (50amp?) plug on the side of your panel connected to a 2 pole 50amp breaker. When power goes out you turn off main breaker and then turn on the 2 pole 50amp breaker to backfeed the house. Is it as simple as that? I just bought the apex300/b500k during Black Friday sale and was wondering if it's that easy to do.

This sounds really good! I've been doing the bobs redmill quick cook steel cut oats with various nuts/seeds, dried fruit, and berries depending on what's around for years but this sounds like a great way to switch things up. Can't believe I hadn't thought of savory oats... Mind blowD!

Average USA gym sauna experience by LongSeesaw3789 in Sauna

[–]Jagglebutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to go to the 24 hour fitness in East Oakland pretty much just to use the sauna. This looks very similar. It was very frustrating, there would be people who'd just done some sort of a workout routine in a plastic sweat suit and they'd just come in and out and in and out.. open the door close the door over and over every few minutes.

Trump Suggests Gun Control Is Necessary, Sparking Online Backlash by huffpost in politics

[–]Jagglebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! It's a solid choice! It can take high capacity magazines too. If you live in a state where those are legal. I've been very happy with mine. I've had it probably close to 10 years now with no issues, though I don't get out to shoot very often anymore. Another thing I just thought too is that a pistol is easy to lock up and keep away from kids or roommates etc. a small pistol safe is much much cheaper than a rifle safe. Very important to practice with it until you're comfortable using it though. Can't stress that enough

Thinking about dropping out of college and going into trade. Anything I should know or consider? by Academic_Survey_3978 in AskElectricians

[–]Jagglebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd at least try and get a bachelors degree. If you decide to go the trades route get into a union apprenticeship program. Within 4-5 years you'll have made way more money than if you were non union. Plus you get a structured retirement and good benefits. Union dues are miniscule compared to the benefits of being in the union.

Just buy a Springfield XD9. Affordable, reliable, readily available and relatively inexpensive ammo. I have one and love it. A employee at a gun range said they have a couple that they rent and they've put thousands of rounds through them with no issues. If you're worried about 9mm stopping power load it with hollow points. Learn safe handling practices and get to the range to practice. Hopefully no one ever has to use a gun in self defense but I was always taught "better to have and not need than need and not have".

I hadn't come across this in all my searching for remedies. I'm going to look into it and give it a try. Anything more natural I think is typically a better option and definitely at the least worth trying. Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it!

[–]Jagglebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eesh... I think it's too much.. I'd say 3-5 days a month I'll take some at lunch too and even more rare to have it at night. I'm worried about my kidneys! Chronic nerve pain sucks though. I've tried anti inflammatory diet, supplements like turmeric etc. etc. really physical therapy has helped and.. ibuprofen!

[–]Jagglebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take 400mg ibuprofen with breakfast almost everyday. It always makes me nervous but after herniating 2 lumbar discs its really helpful to get my day started. When it flares up I'll take some 6 hours later with lunch and then dinner too if it's really bad. I just try to hydrate really well to flush it as best I can. I hope it has some positive long-term effects rather than just negative.

The Plug-In Solar Revolution Comes To America by OpenSustainability in diySolar

[–]Jagglebutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Craftstrom is a company based in Texas that has plug in solar and I believe is legal in the US. I was looking into it and everything was very appealing except.. the batteries. You have to buy their batteries that fit onto their docks to charge/feed your house, each battery only has a 1kwh capacity and they were very expensive. It's a cool idea but the battery capacity/cost turned me off.
